In this era, seems like QB is the most expendable.

Note: this is not about how good a prospect is, just a general observation.

Most of the top QBs in recent years have been from the portal

Not sure I would classify qb as expendable but it is easier to find a talented qb in the portal now

For us, pretty important. We don’t know if Nuss is staying or going. Collins in the portal, underwood flipped, and Swann looked like dog shite. Hurley is just waiting to be the only QB on the depth chart.

Most years you need to sign at least one QB either out of high school or transfer portal. This year is probably the most important for LSU bc Nuss could leave and you’d be left with no one

It’s definitely way less important than it used to be

Jackson Arnold just entered the portal. Should probably try and get him

Nuss isn’t leaving

His last game for OU is indicative of what he could next year to bump himself into a nice first round pick for someone

Seems like timing is more important than recruiting QBs. 2018 and 2022 LSU were perfect opportunities for top QB transfers.

not very, it’s just important to get a QB when you need a QB.

I’d rather have one on campus than not. It’s just my opinion but you should recruit a starting 22 every recruiting cycle and fill up to 25 with positions of need/volume positions like WR, DB/CB, LB, or RB

Nuss really needs to decide 100% like this week and let the coaches know. With his dad being in the NFL circle he should have more than enough information to make an informed decision quickly. If he goes then we absolutely have to go find a starting QB in the portal and need to push for a high school kid to give us more depth. If he comes back then you still pursue a high school kid if you believe he can help you out and develop into a starter in a couple years but don’t just go get a camp arm just to say you brought one in. If Nuss waits until after bowl game to decide and tell coaches and goes to the draft it would put the team in a very bad spot scrambling trying to find a quality starter as they may all be spoken for by then. I would think with his love for LSU he understands this and the longer it takes for him to decide and announce tells me he is probably coming back

Need to stop worrying about Nuss... He's coming back.

QB is, without a doubt, the most important position on the field.

It does seem, however, that quality QBs can be found in the portal.

Certainly, LSU has been able to attract top-flight QBs.

With the portal? Not very. In fact, I’d rather get one with college experience from the portal. Our last two transfers worked out pretty damn well. I mean, if there’s a highly rated QB from Louisiana in the class, by all means, we should get him, but other than that, I wouldn’t worry too much about signing one out of high school anymore.

You could say this about almost any team though. It’s not often that you lose your starting QB during the season and still win much of anything. Most teams would be screwed if their starting QB went down regardless of how the recruit QBs.
