This is everything wrong now with college sports. Kid and his family pitting schools against each other to get him to sign with nothing to make sure he actually stays.

A big reason I care less and less every year about the team.

Is this guy that good?

I thought the current model was to get an experienced signs caller out of the portal now, and not hang your hat on a freshman Qb?

I know lane was trying to get him at ole miss.

As far as what amount he’s worth, we don’t know how much the bidding is so can’t really say one way or the other.

how stupid does this look when teams bid for an athlete and then he ends up not working out and they paid him all this money for nothing.

i always thought this

doesn’t make much sense tbh

HS recruits haven’t yet proved themselves in in college

that NiL money could be better spent on the transfer portal

So your model is to live off the chance of getting lucky in the portal and never recruit another QB again?

As long as we keep paying rising ticket and parking prices, this runaway train won’t stop. Couple that with TV revenues, expanding conferences, expanding playoffs and this is what you get AAA NFL.
Pay all student athletes the same. Open the portal one time- after the season. 1
Week. Before national signing day. The ONLY national signing day. Must stay at a school minimum 2 years and you get 1 transfer.

So Carolina doesn't have an OC in place. He was at one time leaning to Ole Piss being recruited by Lane.

Exactly why I say save the money until they hit the portal. Over time you save money.

Wrong. The recruiting pool is far larger than the portal, and as such, it’s a less expensive market outside of a few top end recruits.

With the money limitations of rev share, recruiting and retention of the best is even more important than ever. This frees up more funds to take bigger shots with a few highly rated and far more expensive portal players. Building a roster through the portal is far more difficult now than it was 2 years ago.

Pay for play pre-NIL was reserved for only the top players. Others may have gotten plenty of $100 handshakes, but they sure as hell weren’t making six figures
