What do you mean "and in professional sports all the time"? CFB IS professional sports, which is why I give zero fricks about these athletes getting their feelings hurt when coaches leave

how stupid does this look when teams bid for an athlete and then he ends up not working out and they paid him all this money for nothing. Some will work out obviously. However, I think you will see higher % of "flops" from your higher rated guys than in the past. Many get that money and then will stop working as hard and lose that competitive drive that got them there. thinking they made it.

Got to spend money to make money. Some might great, some might be a bust. But you will never know unless you get the player.

he sees money. loyalty doesn't exist anymore in CFB it's about who pays the most. and if you think anyone coming to LSU this year won't take a bag somewhere else next year you're crazy.

Everyone needs to remember that just because we have this huge NIL budget doesn’t mean they’re gonna blow it on a player that may not be worth that much. There’s a lot of things to consider. Have to consider the portal, etc. Not at all saying that’s the case here, but everyone needs to remember that if we miss out on a player.

But it sounds like we’re in the lead.

Exactly why I say save the money until they hit the portal. Over time you save money.

This feels gross.
Why?

I want LSU to win I could give two shits less in Kiffin steps on a few heads and pisses a few in the SEC off..get the recruits

Pay for play was always happening, it's just out in the open now.

So what do they do, send these guys up and do a live auction? Ridiculous

Now that would be funny! But it is sadly my brother the days we live in!

I agree, but Duckworth is not gonna start for us next year. Who is? Were need somebody with some college experience and that comes from the portal. Our portal budget will need to accommodate this need.

what about a QB in the portal?
Does LSU push chips all in for Duckworth or wait to see what is in the portal?

I cant wrap my head around there being a choice in this particular case. LSU with Kiffen vs USCe and whateverthefrickhisnameis.

Can there really big a huge disparity in offers? Is this guy splitting hairs between these two schools. I wish I could see the actual numbers in order to figure out what I'm missing.

You are going to lower your potential ceiling just for a few thousand extra from a laughing stock of a program?

If it’s an NIL battle we will win just a matter of time. No way he passes on the money, kiffin coaching, LSU QB Heismans, etc

This is how it's always been, now that it's not against the rules it's more out in the open.

All those "recruiting battles" back in the day between LSU and Bama for top recruits were this playing out behind closed doors.

Surely you aren’t this naive.

Kid has real potential to win a Heisman trophy. Would waste that opportunity at USCe.

Beamer will start the season on a major hot seat, so he's far from being guaranteed that Duckworth will have the HC he signed with. As for his ability, safe to assume that LK knows his QB's.

Even if you lose the bidding, you have cut their budget for a certain other QB who may enter the portal.

They also don't have an oc so LSU isn't much more of an unknown situation.
