Obviously this is IMG Academy that is involved in the college admission scheme just announced. Something to keep an eye on.
quote:

CW-2 was employed at relevant times as the director of college entrance exam preparation at a private college preparatory school and sports academy in Bradenton, Florida.

quote:

CW-2 has agreed to plead guilty in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts to conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1349; and conspiracy to commit money laundering, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 1956(h). CW-2 has been cooperating with the government’s investigation since in or about February 2019, in the hope of obtaining leniency when he is sentenced.

quote:

In or about June 2018, BUCKINGHAM agreed to make a purported charitable donation of $50,000 to KWF, in exchange for which CW-1 arranged to have CW-2 take the ACT on behalf of BUCKINGHAM’s son at the Houston Test Center the following month.

How does this relate to LSU recruiting?

Maybe the More Sports board would be a better place for your post?

You really can’t see how this would relate to recruiting? Does LSU not recruit kids from IMG?

This guy was faking SAT and ACT scores all over the country. If you don't think that this was done for athletes then I don't know what to tell you. We have a kid or two from IMG. Alabama seems to have a lot.

More than likely there are some sports academies that are just as corrupt as the worst AAU programs and sneaker companies. I am glad that the FBI is targeting these guys now. The problem with this one academy is that they set up such a network of fake test proctors that they sold it out to non-athlete families.

I'm sure there are. I mean, IMG is a "high school" owned and operated by a sports (and entertainment) agency. Maybe it's just a hunch, but I doubt most of the kids who attend the school are there due to their remarkable intellect. Hell, Findlay Prep in Las Vegas is essentially a basketball team is allowed to participate in school elsewhere.

This scandal has nothing to do with major college athletics. It’s about status-seeking parents of dumb rich kids trying to get their kids into the best private school they can afford and how they tried to sneak kids in as walk-ons in under the radar sports.

Yes, as well as Drake Davis (yes, I know he is gone) and Charles Turner from the 2019 class. Maybe a few others?

Doesn't surprise me. That school is a fraud, Most those kids can't read or write. Their school is sports.

Wait, so an institution with a $70,000+ yearly tuition that is athlete focused may have ethics issues? Something seems fishy here.

And he's from Houston. Best I can tell, neither of his parents are named Buckingham thankfully.

Where did you come up with that from? I'd bet big money you do not personally know even one kid that has gone to that school. Nor have you met even one. You are just promoting the time honored agenda that certain groups of people are less intelligent. It, in turn, justifies your world view.

While true, the IMG Academy's director had a network of corrupt proctors and doctors that could fake test scores for he kids. You don't think there was some motivation to improve test scores for athletes? You don't think they could tap boosters to cover those costs?

Aren't there a bunch of students that some schools got that other programs stayed away from due to low qualifying scores who suddenly qualified?

Did anyone really believe Travonte Valentine could score high enough on the SAT for college admissions? LSU desperately needed a NT, and they bought one that was available. One example of thousands.

Sorry, college football fans, the entire system is corrupt and needs to be taken down. As much as I love it, it needs to go.

Maybe the great wide unicorn isn't the best example. It took both summer sessions and multiple tests to get him to practice, much less fully eligible.

So if anybody purchased test scores, it must've been from the Dollar General store of test scores.

yes. And has been for a while. The level and intent of corruption hasn't increased; it's been bad for a long while. What has increased is the means by which that corruption has been maintained.

OU (as an example of dozens of programs) under Switzer bought players with hookers, cars, and blow and handed them steroids with the orientation package. Players have always been bought. What's changed is now you have to buy the coaches too. And when you do that, you have to buy admins. And now you are in public coffers so the already more crooked politicians get another sandbox to play in.

And no it doesn't, nor will it because of that above, be brought down. Just like any change to an ecosystem you change your behavior to match. In a system that corrupt, doing the right thing is being wrong.
