That's a dick move by a top notch prospect; in return because of time consideration, it cost us a 2nd tier player as a result.

Look I assume you have no idea how difficult these decisions are for these kids, and how much it eats them up inside. Could he have handled it better, absolutely! But I put that on his father, because his father should know better!!! And he should have guided his son better plain and simple.

But don't blame the loss of any recruits on Surtain, that is all on Coach Dumbass!!!! It goes right to that old adage "a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush!" We aren't talking one star players or no star players he turned away we are talking elite prospects 3 and 4 star players. If the rumors are true, and Coach O pretty much confirmed the rumors in his round about way, that Goodrich called on Sunday to commit and Coach O told him "that he didn't have a committable offer yet" then that is more on Foster than Surtain anyway. Now Surtain might have pushed Washington away, but again that is the way the cookie crumbles sometimes.

That's fair, but would you drag someone along for two years and put it to them at 11 pm the night before? That is the question here. Not that he chose another coach/school.

Yes. If I was really torn. Do you think the team would give your scholly to someone else once they thought you were leaving or wavering?

You don’t get paid to play.
You can be injured any moment.

So yes. I would look out for myself above any program for sure.
There is nothing wrong with what the kid did. He acted in his best interest and most people do the same thing everyday.

Do you tell your employer you are out looking for another job?

People in here are giant hypocrites.

Are LSU bitches for not giving Goodrich a committable offer until Tuesday? If we are playing the respect game, how is that 'respectful'? Or are they allowed to change their minds, it is just the kids that cant?

They shouldn't have allowed themselves to be put into a position like that. If they'd foreseen this possibility, they would've made room for Goodrich.

In their minds they probably thought PS2 was a lock, which was a miscalculation. I don't care if they were recruiting him since pre-school. He's not a lock until he's ready to sign.
That's my issue. You can't assume anything. With depth chart and situational concerns (i.e., Goodrich) coupled with the significance (a national program, this ain't Butler CC) you definitely don't assume anything.

the decision process:
Getting Goodrich and Surtain over Foster... not too bad
Getting Goodrich and Foster... not as good, not gonna kill you
Getting Foster and neither Goodrich and Surtain... bad
Getting none of the above: really bad considering needs.

So focus on BOTH Goodrich and Surtain as equals. If one wants in, let him in. Chips fall where they may with the other. If anyone should've been 'on wait see what happens list', it's Foster.

The assumption of Surtain caused us to lose Goodrich.

If you assumed Surtain was not a lock, at least we get a long 4* DB in Goodrich.

You never put yourself in a position where getting nothing is up to someone else. You put yourself in a position where you have SOME control over getting SOMETHING.

1) no one is upset he changed his mind. What is upsetting is not letting anyone know until 11 p.m. the night before. He does that just a week earlier, we have Goodrich and all Is well. While your disappointed, the staff would have had their corner.

2) LSU never changed their mind on Goodrich, they had one spot slotted for corner, they told him if the groupie is out he is in. He chose not to wait and went to Clemson. good on him. When lsu found out the groupie was out, they tried to get him that night. If lsu was disrespecting him, so was Clemson for that matter.

3)IF lsu pulls the offer of kid the night before, yes that is a bad character move and I wouldn't support it. Give the kid a chance to find another school. Mutual respect. That's exactly what Bama did to a kid last year on National T.V.

Goodrich came on the radar when Cook committed to Texas.

If I remember correctly, he announced about a week before early signing period.

Good for him. Kid realizes LSU is a clown show compared to Bama. I wouldn't send my kid to LSU over Alabama.

Absolutely pathetic. Apparently the parents of the 23 signed as well as the recruits themselves disagree. Damn I would sure hate to be a recruit yesterday.

You commit to LSU, one of the biggest decisions of your life, and all you hear is negativity around the program from the shitty fan base.

I think something happened.

He was in tears when he did tell the coaching staff.

Did he also delete his Twitter?

Patrick Surtain Jr. Does not owe LSU anything.

Yes he does. Patrick Surtain and LSU had a three year relationship. Like any long term relationship, each side is owed respect and honesty. LSU spent a ton of time, money and energy recruiting him.

He violated his end of the bargain by not giving LSU notice. I'm not saying he had to go to LSU but he owed the coaching staff more advance notice. What he did was the equivalent of breaking up with a fiance the night before the wedding by text.

He handled it like a bitch. Straight up. I would be disappointed in him if I were his father.
It's your choice, but learn to be straight up with people.

These are the kind of habit-forming decisions that affect your life.

Kid has a VERY strong future, but he made a mistake in how he handled this situation.

You're a senior in HS, people will treat you like a man now. Act like one.
