I used to think I had a problem with time I spent following recruiting. Now its 365 and so frustrating to know kids want to go to LSU but money is talking. It has lost a lot of its fun and luster. I am just venting. FFS.

It’s not worth following that closely anymore honestly.

It's a lot less interesting to follow. Wake me up on signing day and then let me know when half of them transfer.

Most of my family and friends have limited our college sports viewing to only LSU games. It’s just not worth the time or trouble to give viewership to any other games. It’s definitely not as fun to follow anymore. I know my circle of people can’t be just an outlier. This doesn’t bode well for the future of college sports.

A lot of people blaming these kids but NCAA could’ve been had a model in place to prevent the wild Wild West.

We know that. Nobody’s blaming college football players. It’s just sad to see this happening to the sport.

And you are right. They could’ve admitted it wasn’t amateur instead of going the way of this NIL loophole & that would have gotten players paid without destroying the integrity of the league & decimating the spirit of CFB.

Old rich white men have created this mess.Wanting their
teams to win at any cost caused this. These players didn`t
have the power to start this. There was a day when the inmates DID NOT run the assylum.

I think the NCAA purposely didn’t have a model in place to create the bullshite we see now after SCOTUS.

It's like watching your stock portfolio hourly.

Yep, I don’t start looking up info and highlights of a kid until they are signed. I’m yet to look at a single highlight of Bryce Underwood, and won’t until he is signed.

Also the fact that you now have to recruit your own players to stay is a whole other level I’m not ready to deal with.

Can't imagine the toll it takes on coaches. You spend all fall recruiting HS kids, then after the season you have to recruit half your team back plus re riot players leaving other teams in the portal, then you have to recruit from teams who lost head coaches. Finally, you get to spring ball! Then you got to recruit 1\3 of the team back, and then recruit players who from other teams that jumped into the portal.

Oh, and you have to figure out what NIL every kid is worth, whether you want to pay it, and be constantly aware that the next A&M is out there offering more to the guy you just recruited.

Its become year round since Covid.

absolute clown take. Kids were getting paid to go to a booster favorite school since the late 70’s. Bagmen have been around for decades it’s just now out in the open. The unlimited times to enter the transfer portal has hurt college sports more than NIL. Put the 1 year sit out back in place for transfers it would even out the majority of this mess.

yep... national signing day was damn near a religious holiday for me, but now, with NIL and early signing period and the portal, it's just another day now... kinda sucks

Ugh, I’m an old white man and I love recruiting and college football. I have absolutely have nothing to do with this and I do hope LSU wins & wins big. This is just a changing world and the older you get , change becomes harder to adjust to, that’s life. To me:
Old Rap > New Rap
Old Rock > New rock
There will be a day when everyone looks back on today and says I remember when players just went to a school who paid them the most with NIL & sketchy recruiters. Wait until the lawyers get involved and college athletes become employees Oh it’s coming. Two Power conferences and all the mids & small teams have their own league. Like it or not change is inevitable- I loved when gas was cheaper, politicians were noble, and kids respected their elders- everyone will say it before they die

I still follow but not as closely. Early signing day took a lot of the fun out of it for me
