Madar was drafted by the Boston Celtics in 2020, but the Celtics only owned his NBA draft rights. He did not sign a standard NBA contract with them at that time.

Someone on the board mentioned a while back that some of these international deals are complicated bc of the number of layers to the deals and the amount of hands that the cash has to go through. Part of me wonders if that's where these international outlets are getting their numbers. Not necessarily how much LSU is paying but how much money has exchanged hands between all parties involved in the deal

Bro no way this is real. He averaged 3ppg in Europe and 11 in Israel. I hope Wade isn't paying him 5 million. Like wtf lol

Assuming we have his eligibility figured out?
So a heads up on that, I was told the staff is operating as if Madar won’t get eligibility. I guess he’s committed if he does get it but not sure what the next steps are. Wasn’t told anything more. I’m sure they have someone lined up.
I also have two conflicting updates on Graves. One feels good it’s LSU and another says he’s going pro.

It's why I think the international route for the most part is dumb.
I'm sorry, if you're over a certain age and are a professional over there you aren't eligible to play COLLEGE basketball. If you're 21 and have been drafted, same rules apply.
Because of this pathway we've probably lost out on a lot of good guys here state side. Maybe it works out and we're winners. Not trying to be negative, it's just goes to show much this whole this broken now.

sure sounds like a lot of negativity. Wade was brought here to turn the program around. That takes winning to put you back in serious running with recruits that want a bag but also chance at tourney run. This was the best option for him to take advantage of the broken system for possibly last time as 5 for 5 will cut out some of these players in the future. Take advantage of it and see if you can piece together a sweet 16 or Elite 8 run in year one and then all the sudden you look a little shinier to the upcoming kids

I agree w the above,
men 22-25 yo with years of professional basketball experience is an unfair advantage. But if it's the rules, might as well take advantage while you can.

'One feels good it’s LSU (if he doesnt go pro) and another says he’s going pro' ........ my take on the phrase

My bad shoulda made it a little more clear. One feels good he will choose lsu instead of staying in the draft. The other thinks he’s staying in the draft. The first one is closer to the program.
Regardless of anything, if Graves comes back to college, it’s to play for LSU

Im a big WW fan but I kind of agree. I don't have a problem with trying to grab a couple of nice pieces like Dessert and Niang. And if you could Montero. But I don't see the point of grabbing players like Madar and Santos.

Perhaps this has been addressed, but previously foreign players could not get NIL due to the nature of the student visa, where they are not allowed to work or get income.
Has that changed?

I really don’t see the big deal. Happy our coach is exploiting every loop hole until something changes. Lane is the same way with his offense.
Might as well speed everything up so the death spiral of college sports eventually stops and we can return to normalcy.

Hopefully, this guy just wanted to play another season, and that's what got him to BR. He has played 3 full seasons and played 4 games during his JR season. Finished last season with an EM rating of -3.88.

There is no way we’re paying him. One of the bench players Wade referenced.

Yep, definitely a roster filler
Posted on 5/18/26 at 7:09 pm to tigerbait2010
Yeah looks like a bench depth piece that could help you in a pinch as Coach referred to. So someone that can come in and get you some minutes if you have injuries or foul trouble or both. Gives you an experienced depth guy

I’m not sure he’s good enough for the bench. I don’t know what happened to this guy. I watched his 2022 highlights with Arizona State, and he looked like he would be a good player.
