Is it Niang or a big like Dessert he would be competing for a starting spot with? I know a lot of these internationals can play multiple positions. I thought Santos is more of a skilled 4-5 while Niang is more of a 3?

Santos seems like a 10-15 minute a game rotational big. He looks like a NCAA center (6'8'-6'9 250) but plays like a stretch scoring 4.

He doesnt seem to rebound or defend well at all, fouls a ton. So hard to see him playing more than 10-15 minutes a game in NCAA.

He's basically a big you put on the floor to stretch out a defense and have to worry about on 1 end of the court.

If Graves is on board we definitely will have 2 more bigs at the 4/5 spots who are probably better than him and play more minutes.

I haven’t seen any news about Dessert, is he also rumored to be in?(assuming you’re all talking about French basketball player Brice Dessert)

Brice Dessert is almost certain to be the starting 5.

I think people are underestimating Santos if they just look at PPG/RPG, hear he doesn't play great defense, and think he's not going to be a big contributor. I'm betting he's a 10-12PPG/5-7RPG type guy next season. Grown man, will bully a lot of these skinny younger guys. Yes, not a great lateral feet mover to guard 1 on 1 on the perimeter, but can handle himself on defense inside and provide offense from all over the court.

Definitely a stretch four, perhaps 6man skills? The shot looks real good, euro guy looking to pass quickly, and arm length is great. Didn’t see any great defense against other block players in the videos, but I dig the pickup.

Good job general.

I’m ready for the guards.

Dessert and Montero would be insane. Definitely want both of those. But obviously wondering how they make the money work for all parties.

The money for Dessert Montero and Graves would have to be pretty insane for all 3. Dont know how we pull that off, but I would take it all day every day

Dessert sounds done. Montero definitely not done or maybe even not attainable as far as I know. Sounds like the kid is pretty happy in Europe but he'd make a bunch of money coming over to the states for a season of college basketball and it sounds like LSU is the only team with enough cash to meet what he'd demand.

Amazingly, it sounds like LSU has at minimum $20 million for this roster and potentially more if the right guy was available.

If there's a guy that can raise enough money quickly enough to get some top guys like Montero and Graves, it would be Wade. He definitely has way way more booster support than McMahon could ever hope for and could conjure up.

We will find out over the coming week what kind of $$$ we are really swinging around. The early reports of about $12M up to $15M might be light which would be pretty hilarious

For Wade to opine that this is a top 15 team if the roster breaks right...I don't think Dessert, Santos, Graves, Ugochukwu, Dioubate, and Niang plus some random couple guards would make him say that. That sounds more like a roster with the guys above plus RJ Luis and/or Jean Montero. Just my opinion.

I certainly hope this is the 8 because

Holy shite

Dessert
Graves
Dioubate
Luis
Montero

With Santos, Ugochukwu and Niang coming off the bench would be downright unfair. Obviously 1 more guard would have to be in the mix there, but holy....fking....sh*t

I don't think we will truly find that out because there is so much uncertainty/misinformation in both NIL deals and Euro contracts. The only certainty is that the numbers will be inflated...though that is NOT to say LSU isn't spending a decent amount on this roster.

Wade is a fundraiser. Always has been. He was in his first stint at LSU (no, he wasn't making those strong arse offers out of his own pockets...no matter how much the misinformed groupthink Rant narrative wants you to believe otherwise). He was at McNeese. And he knows what it takes to raise those funds at LSU again. There is a reason Johnny Jones is on the staff.

The other guy wanted to operate like it was 2017 where he could recruit, redshirt, and develop a team over the course of multiple years. He also didn't want to fundraise. It was essentially like having a Trent Johnson level of interaction/fundraising combined with a Jones level floor coaching. THAT is how you got the worst results in over 50+ years of LSU basketball.

Is Wade a good enough game coach to get LSU to the pinnacle of the sport? TBD, but it hasn't happened yet. But there should have never been any doubt that he could fundraise.

EDT: You are also starting to see a lot more information come out about LSU basketball now. Player signings, staff additions, Wade doing interviews. That makes me think Wade and the program have a degree of certainty where things stand now and they are ready to start reporting it.

I was noting to my friend that Wade on tingle and co and the Rothstein show gave us more information on the basketball team, then the LAST 4 years under McMahon

We got very little information regarding the basketball team under McMahon

They are also trying to get Hampton to commit and reclassify. We don't know how much Niang would get, but he is reportedly demanding the equivalent of Top 5 Portal money, so he is a starter. We are talking a potential Top 10 lineup:

Montero, Hampton, Graves, Dio, Niang, and 2 or 3 solid guys off the bench

I would think you would flip flop Dioubate and Niang. But I really have no clue.

Yeah I debated on Niang/Dioubate but Dioubate is a guy i feel like Wade will fall in love with. So versatile as a player/defender and tons of big time college experience.

Both obviously would play a bunch either way

I don't know about yall but dessert is one of my favorite guys that have been talked about. I'm surprised more teams weren't on him.
