Sounds like LSU is not really in the picture for Pierre sadly. Kentucky bound as of right now.

Edit: Been told its more Pierre having no interest in LSU, our staff really likes him.

I dont know what you mean

Having 2 6’6 guards with 2 big men over 6’9 would be a monster lineup in college basketball. We could have a lineup of:

6’11 Nwoko
6’11 Miller
6’6 Mackinnion
6’6 King
6’1 Thomas

The position of small forward is dead in CBB. So that is elite length

Reece looks soooo good. I really think Givens gets expanded minutes and plays off ball a little more. I do think we really need one more guard.

Mackinon and even King would be smallish at the 3 against the elite SEC teams. 6'9" is kinda dream casting, but i would like to see 6'7" to 6'8" with reach and defense at that position.

We are close. I think we have beasts inside and enough at pg. Maybe a lengthen 3 and an additional big man in case Reed needs more time.

How many more can we take and who else do we expect to lose?

By my count, so far, this is the roster…

Givens
Mosley
Reece
King
Thomas
Reed
Mackinnon
Collins
Nwoko
Gilhool
Miller

I don't expect to lose anyone else, and we should be in the market for 2-3 more. Technically we can get up to 4, but that seems like a lot.

It was determined that with next season, SEC teams can increase their scholarship numbers to 15 from 13, but it hasn't been decided whether they will. So, if it stays at 13, LSU has two more spots to fill.

We need another shooter and we need someone who can take a game over when we need them to. I don't think we have that in the lineup.

I’d like to see LSU add another wing. King/Mackinnon/Mosely seem to be the current options and that feels a bit light.

Cam Carter possible extra year

Could someone explain to me how exactly Cam could get a waiver? Because cam inserted back at the 2 spot in this lineup would be nasty

You can apparently just apply for an extra year.

I think Efton is applying because he had to sit out 7 or so games 2 years ago when they couldn't figure out if they wanted to let transfers play or not.

I think it is more of just players/attorneys on their behalf continuing to test the limits on eligibility. They see where the path is leading...which is essentially no time-cap on eligibility. I.e., if you are enrolled as a student at the school you are eligible to play. Even if it is your 5th, 6th, 9th year in college with no injuries or other "hardships" occurring in your career.

The restrictions on players have been being eroded for the better part of a decade

Coaches can limit schools available for players to transfer - eliminated
1 year "sit out" penalty for transfers - eliminated
Only 1 "free" transfer - eliminated
JUCO seasons count towards your 4 year eligibility - (effectively) eliminated.

The ultimate argument is limiting eligibility is an antitrust violation because it unlawfully limits a player's opportunity to earn money through NIL.

We talk about college players now being "professionals", but that is becoming more and more true by the year. Possibly as soon as this upcoming season you are going to start seeing guys essentially become "professional" college football and basketball players in the sense they have no plans on attempting to play in the NFL or NBA (because they aren't good enough). They will just be career college players

Need to add some athletic defenders. This is where V. Miller and Chest leaving really hurts.

V Miller hardly defended. And Chest got BULLLLLLIED down low

Rashad King is 6’6 and an intense on ball defender. Nwoko easily makes up for Chest.

Where does this come from? Tennessee doesn’t play a Guard over 6’4. Florida’s 3 starting guards are 6’2, 6’3, 6’4. Bama’s G’s were 6’1, 6’3, 6’1, 6’4. Auburn is BY FAR the largest guard lineup in the SEC…6’1, 6’6, 6’7, 6’4. I could literally go team by team and you will not find a single lineup in the SEC that has 6’8+ wing players. If you are 6’9, you are a stretch 4.

We have Reed who is a stretch 4 and Miller as well and he started to show what he can do

I think we need to add another guy because I don’t think Mosley is nearly ready…but this team is already significantly longer and more athletic than last year.

the advanced metrics show that the best overall player at anything was chest on defense, and also that v Miller was a good defender

Damn. Would've liked to keep Collins.

Now they have to replace him.

As of now, thats it. I wish Collins the best, I think he did his best here despite constantly dealing with that shoulder issue still. Ultimately we just need to get a little bigger than he is. Was a fun player to watch though. He was nice and springy and helped on the offensive glass but really struggled on the defensive glass and thats where we gotta get better. 8 points per game in 20 minutes is pretty good too on a team that was as offensively inept as we were.

I think we could have gotten more out of his offensive game too. I liked his mid range jumper and his floater. Wish we would have worked more of those into the offense
