Only thing holding up the announcement that I can think of is the paperwork but would she even be allowed to be in the country if everything wasn’t cleared ?

You cannot start classes or enter the United States as a full-time student if your F-1 or J-1 student visa is not approved, because colleges require an approved visa and valid Form I-20 to complete physical enrollment.

Well if you look on LSU women’s basketball facebook page you’ll see a short video of Morro and Mulkey watching a summer workout and a third girl that looks to be Minaeva

Anna hasn’t been in the U.S. yet. Her latest IG post has her in Türkiye. However someone commented “see you at LSU soon” and she liked it. She’ll be here. Still almost a month before classes start.

That’s not Minaeva at all. Doesn’t look like her. Morro is already practicing with the team, and Minaeva isn’t.

Will this new ruling granting a fifth year to the class of 2022 allow WBB to bring someone back or pick up a heretofore unavailable transfer?

I’m sure that would have been big news and publicized greatly had Minaeva been on campus and watching practice.

Being politically practical is as likely the reason as anything else since I think Russia considers politics in evaluating student visas. Liking or following anything or anyone that might be construed as having political meaning could cause scrutiny. I would like to think Russia sees potential PR wins in Anna making it to LSU, being successful, and comporting herself well, but who knows.
Just a guess. I know nothing. But it doesn't seem unreasonable at this point.
