If they are after girard still then they had to be putting him ahead of Stewart as a starter. Stewart is probably the 6th man if girard comes. Same with Lawrence. Lawrence and wright are the 2/3 starters. Stewart 6th man.

Trying to make specific predictions on roles and playing times this early is like pissing into the wind.

looking like a rotation of Baker/chest/Reed/Fountain .

Hopefully Baker and Fountain are ready to go 25+ mins every game.

The guy we should try to grab is Aziz Bandaogo. He's a 7-footer from Utah Valley who averaged 12 points, 10 boards and 3 blocks a game this season and was the WAC defensive player of the year.

Of course, everybody and their brother is getting on this guy.

Right now it's a real concern that we're going to have nobody capable of being a rim protector. No bueno.

I think it’ll be Cisse but would be fine with Bandaogo. I guess we will find out in the next 9 days, pretty sure the portal closes May 11.

I would strongly consider Ven-Allen Lubin from ND. Only 6’8 225 but has a long wingspan and in limited minutes(17mpg) averaged almost a block per game, 4.5 rebounds and shot much better from the line than Cisse(around 75%), and has 3 years of eligibility left.

Cisse will have people in a mess, he is a major liability from the free throw line….41%

You can be a great defensive team without a "rim protector". LSU was one of the top 5 defensive teams in the nation in 21-22. They only had one guy who averaged a 1 block per game (Eason) and were 8th in the SEC in blocked shots. LSU averaged ~2 blocked shots per game this season when compared to last. Yet, last season was the worst defensive team at LSU in 20 years other than Jones' final season.

Now, this LSU team probably doesn't have the defensive personnel that team had. But we are also not expecting this team to be a top 5 defensive team in the nation either. Top 40 is not an unrealistic goal for a major conf. program. Would a "rim protector" be nice? Absolutely! You saw how such a player could significantly impact a game when LSU had Jordon Mickey at the heart of an otherwise average (at best) defensive team. But one can be a really good defensive team without "rim protection."

IMO, what LSU needs desperately is another big who can rebound and just be solid defensive...even if he's not a great shot blocker.

Trey’Dez is the wildcard. I know many people think he won’t play, and if we get Cisse, then it becomes much less likely, but if we don’t get anymore bigs, then I believe we’ll need him.

Trey'Dez is going to be a senior in high school for this upcoming basketball season.

If we don't get another big, this team will consistently get destroyed on the glass next year.

That's clear.

And you can't compare this next year's team to Wade's last one. Everybody on that team was a capable rebounder, and Eason and Days were two of the best rebounders in college basketball.

Darn! I didn’t realize that. Oh well, back to the drawing board on bigs!

a) we probably will get another big as a backup / hopefully young developing guy.
B) we should be ok clearing the defensive boards since we will be playing a true sf who will help clear rebounds and the guards can't be worse.
C) this team should have a solid offense to outscore many opponents.

The fact that we are still talking to guards gives me the feeling that the staff believes they missed out on Girard. RayQuawndis is by no means a starter but would be a good depth guy that can give you 15+ minutes a game. This should also show that while the portal is closed the staff is still making moves trying to land more pieces

Am I too unrealistic to hope Reed will be that rebounding defensive big we need? The guy is 6’10” tall and he seems to be big enough. When someone is his size isn’t defense and rebounding just will? I mean he’s decently athletic and definitely not a stiff.
