Yep. Beard is putting together a solid squad. However, Murray will need a waiver.

There are a TON of guys who are going to need waivers. Cook (unless he is a grad student) will. Same for Will Baker who is one of LSU's targets.

I'm guessing the 2nd time transfers have good information they will be cleared to play next season. Otherwise, there are going to be a ton of rosters completely screwed up with guys presumably left with no option but to sit out.

I wish they would have stuck to the 1 time only thing instead of letting it devolve into a free-for-all every year.

There needs to be something that takes guys out of the potential transfer population artificially, because the players and the coaches apparently can't be trusted to do it themselves.

Baker is eligible now b/c he redshirted after his first transfer, so it didn't count against his 1-time transfer. The NCAA issued a memo a couple of weeks ago clarifying the transfer process. Basically, after your 1-time transfer, it's back to the old system, with the vast majority of transfers having to sit out 1 year. They said they never intended the transfer portal to be a revolving door. The clarification with the memo even said that your coach being fired wouldn't be an approval waiver excuse.

Jesse Edwards, 6'11 Syracuse grad transfer just entered the portal and LSU has already contacted him per his tweet. He would be a real nice get with a 14 & 10 avg and nearly 3 blocks on high fg%. Athletic and hustles. More of a traditional 5 but could probably play a power 4 if we end up with a stretch 5 too.

None of these guys have ever been on the floor together

He would be superior to Mack or Baker. He also just became one of the top big men in the portal.

Wonder if us reaching out to him is a sign that Baker is showing interest in San Diego State

We need a player like Baker and player like Edwards to round out the team. Both plus Amaree or Stewart would make this team a contender.

If we get the players lapaz is talking about, we'd have NO EXCUSE missing the tournament next year. Hell, a good coach would have had us in this year.

A better coach probably would have been able to put together a better roster than last year, but I can't think of a single coach in the country who would be able to take that roster and make the tournament playing the SEC schedule we played

We forget our current "coach" beat Arkansas and played at Kentucky down to the wire. If we had gone 10-8, or even 9-9 in the league, we make the tournament. We had an extremely tough start to the SEC slate, but we lost 8-10 winnable games throughout the schedule. A good coach wins most of those.

Don't forget Doug (hey look at me) Shows ABSOLUTELY SCREWED US in the Cayman Islands, or we had a solid chance to beat an elite 8 Kansas State. So yes, a good coach could've kept us on track to sneak into the tournament.

Also, as you brought up, a better coach would have put together a better squad that gets us in the tournament. I know of one. He coached us before this clown took over.

Western Kentucky transfer Jamarion Sharp has been hearing from these schools, a source tells me:
Kentucky
Arkansas
Missouri
Ole Miss
Florida
Florida State
Nebraska
LSU
UNLV
Memphis
Wake Forest
Gonzaga
NC State
Cincinnati

Sharp averaged 7.4PPG, 7.7RPG and 4.1BPG last season.

That would solve rim protection.

I read something that said Baker doesn’t need a waiver since he redshirted after his first transfer. May be bs. But good to hear we’ve reached out to the syracuse guy.

I would take Sharp.

It's starting to look like we've swung and missed on R.J. Mack and Will Baker. So we'll have to pray for Jalen Reed to become our stretch 5, and that might work out or it might be an utter disaster that means we're 2-16 in the league again and McMahon gets fired.

Our current year to year transfer strategy is just unsustainable for us. Like the majority of our other sports LSU is not a competitive national recruiter in Men's Basketball. Instead, the focus should be on Louisiana kids often looked over by us and count on them playing 4 or 5 years for us. Also taking advantage of preferred walk on spots like baseball to give kids like Isaiah Howard a spot to maybe develop into a special player instead of kids like Benhayoune or Montgomery.

Unfortunately those days are probably long gone. Players not wanting to sit or wait to play combined with a pressure on coaches to win immediately has created the situation we are currently seeing. While HS recruiting needs to improve and we hopefully won't be relying on 4-6 transfers a year, recruiting the transfer portal is crucial for any program to be successful in today's game

I’ve been reading that Mack may go elsewhere, but what makes you think we missed on Baker?

Haven't seen anything about Baker to suggest we are out of it for him
