I think he is another guy that has a decision to make. If he just loves being a tiger he sticks around and just plays his role. If he wants to be on the field for his last year of baseball eligibility he might look elsewhere...we will see.

Exactly. It's not like we don't play freshmen if they earn playing time.

Reaves in LF? No that’s happening he can’t hit SEC pitching. He will be a bat off the bench
You deduced that Tanner Reaves will be a bat off the bench in 2026 after his 21 at bats in 2025? And the first time seeing non-JUCO arms in his career?

You also misread my post. It was made with the most pessimistic roster view possible in mind. Reaves had the 4th best OBP on the team in conference. His glove is likely not strong enough to be an every day infielder. He is, however, a decent athlete with offensive potential that could find an open slot in the outfield if the roster is in a certain position.

Yeah I thought reaves was really good offensively

Maybe not good enough fielder to be a third baseman but a player who will compete for playing time

Also players can get better from one year to the next

Players improve despite most believing they don’t

I think Larson sees the OF before Reeves. Reeves isn’t that great. Not sure what Larson’s future will be.

In one of his recent PC, CJJ was asked if he could discuss his portal signings. He laffed & said not now, paused, " but when I can you'll see how excited I am about this portal class."

C - Arrambide
1B - Pearson
2B - Dardar
3B - Simpson
SS - Milam
LF - Reaves
CF - Curiel
RF - Brown
________

Larson will be somewhere. If the younger Pearson becomes a starter, Reaves is likely an infield utility guy off the bench. The coming portal additions will change the lineuo, so this is not our list of options.

________

Was disappointed when he entered the portal. I think he is a solid player.

Didn’t he play 2B/1B in juco? I thought I remembered reading that he had never played 3B until this season.

Who knows how much one can improve, but from what I witnessed during infield at the CWS at 3rd, there is just no way I can imagine this is going to work.

Aside from groundballs or picking low throws, there just doesn't seem to be enough athleticism

Maybe with a ton of reps I guess

I saw that too in Omaha and kept thinking this is all we have for backups?

I think the hope for the fat Pearson is he develops into a Frey still RHH DH long term. Could have a solid career at LSU doing that job. The athleticism is just not there.

He needs a major body transformation. Have no idea if he is committed enough to put in that kind of work.

That's Christmas morning, based on the background. Somebody loves that kid.
