You have inside information? If so, I’ll trust you on that.
Last year no one thought it was possible that Bear was coming back and Jay made it happen so I’ll believe in anything at this point. Maybe Stansfield is this years version of that. Great player and team guy so I’d love for that to be the case.

Being a draft eligible sophomore with a later birthday, there were lots of people who thought Bear could come back.

I could have phrased that better…… I can’t remember anyone thinking he would come back

I will be honest, I thought it was 50-50 at best. I think Frey is almost 0%. Until a Top 150 Junior returns to school at LSU or anywhere else for his senior year, I'm going to assume they are always going to go. I cannot think of a single example when this has happened.

I think what gets lost is Frey is not a draft eligible Soph. He is technically a Jr. with 2 years of eligibility left. However, scouts for MLB teams know the leverage is limited because he isn't going to stay 5 years, so this is the best time for him. He could come back ,but it would be because they gave him a lowball offer.

He only has one year of eligibility left.

What was Devin Fontenot rated when he came back his Sr Year (Jay's first team)
Seems like that was big deal when he stayed in school

Question now becomes: Is Jay content with what we currently have in the OF/1B without him or are we looking for another in the portal. I wish DiMartini would've waited on committing until now
I went out of town this past weekend so I must've missed it. What school did Dimartini commit to?

He followed his head coach to Duke.

You could phrase it, "Until a Top 150 Junior returns to school at LSU or anywhere else for his senior year and improves his stock substantially."

Oh wow, for some reason I thought he redshirted. He is definitely gone.

Fontenot was never drafted and signed a deal with an Independent League.

the only reason Frey would return is to show he can play a position but even then he would lose all leverage and would be at mercy of team drafting him

Do really you really think scouts need to see if a guy as athletic as Frey can play in the outfield? And see what, him maybe shag three fly balls every two games? He'll have a 120-game minor league season to learn. The Astros stuck a 35-year-old Jose Altuve out there and he never play LF in his life.

People keep saying scouts need to see his defense… like project said in this thread (or a different one), teams will throw a guy like Larson in CF just to basically see if he can do it. With Frey’s size and athleticism, teams will probably throw him in every corner position and possibly even back to catcher if it makes sense. They

Just repeat it enough and it will eventually be accepted as truth.

I don't understand why anyone would be crossing their fingers for any starting junior with MLB talent to come back
