Not that this means anything, but Simpson just started following Rizy. He followed Schmidt just before he announced he was coming to LSU. So I would assume they feel pretty good about Rizy.

There have been 24 catchers selected through 7 rounds and only 3 first baseman, all of which are left handed. 10 third baseman.

For the uneducated like myself, is there any difference between the 10th and 11th round? Specifically, can teams offer over-slot money to players picked in the 11th round or later or does it only apply to the top 10 rounds? I feel like I knew the answer at one time but I'm no longer sure.

With the assumption that everyone drafted so far is not going to be on our roster next year, we're currently at 43/40 with 11+ rounds to go.

Yes, They can take extra money from the bonus pool for 11-20 rounds. That is why you see some teams take flyers on players like Larson, Cam Johnson getting picked late in the draft last season.
