Whats the feel on Bateman, a sure sign like Griffin and Caminiti or a tiny bit of hope he might make it here?

I know Schmidt is only a possibly because he's a die hard long time LSU fan but even then lot of money to pass up in those slots for them to get here.

first 2 rounds your still making million plus. HS tend to leverage 3rd round money a little better.

Almost everyone in the draft signs until you get to the very end of the draft.

But MLB teams seem to want to know your number before they pick you. So if Bateman wants 2 million and no team wants to give him 2 million he probably will drop to the 10-11 round regardless of his draft profile.

I don't like the chances of Bateman getting to campus. I'd put it at 15-20%.

Schmidt has rumors of a high number around 3 mil. If the Guardians pick him where that mock shows, they will meet the 3 mil. Gaurdians have the highest pool amount around18.5 mil so they will be able to sign a few picks over slot value.

Cam Johnson gives me PTSD with Bateman lol.. From all the reports I have read about him he is another prospect with stuff but have command issues. It’s probably best he signs honestly

Jay usually advises 3M and above to go pro. Jay is very good at being transparent one what’s best for the kid’s future and that makes you believe him more when he advises to go to college. Agreements are done before the draft and they know what the number is to get you. They won’t waste a first round pick if there is questions you won’t sign . Sometimes things get weird with the contract, But for the most part if you get picked in the upper rounds , it’s thought you’re going pro. Later rounds they may pick just to see if they can get you. It’s what happened with Cam Johnson last year . He wanted first round money and teams didn’t think he had a starter profile, at least out of High school . Teams want highly projectable starter profiles out of high school in the first few rounds. Any scout will tell you LSU highschool signees are the hardest to sign.

Another catcher in the portal

Bo Willis, Northwestern State (Senior)

.267/.320/.451/.785, 9HR, 16BB, 47K

We are not tied to him at the moment, but since catcher is a hot topic I put him here. He is #164 in the portal ranks

I think he's in the category of guys that's only eligible for D2 and lower.

He was a freshman in 2020 and then at a juco in 2021. JUCO guys got an extra COVID year for 2021, but it's not allowed in D1. D2, D3, and NAIA are allowing that extra year.

University of Tampa has been absolutely cleaning up on these guys.

The MLB draft tracker is kind of up and running. If you go to it, it will pull up the 2023 one, but click the year dropdown and click on the word "year" and it will bring up this year's tracker. You can't sort by state yet, but you can search by school and name.

I can't say for certain it's fully populated, but neither Zac Cowan (who is a DES) nor Luis Hernandez are on the tracker.

It doesn't mean they aren't on the draft radar, but it's an indication of where they're ranked. The tracker has 2,354 players on it.

Haven’t heard anything on him recently. Couple high rated HS kids have de committed recently . Assuming because of portal but don’t know the situation. They were committed to Vanderbilt and Georgia. The Georgia kid just committed to State, really good pickup for them . Vanderbilt kid , Noah Lafine is a lefty pitcher and has been committed to Vanderbilt for a long time . He just de committed. We are not on him currently that I know of but it’s interesting how late in the process. It’s wild right now.
