I kinda like the Stanfield add. Really good athlete in CF and bat has played fine in the league.

Same here. Even if his stats are the same as last year I like the add.
If Jay can get his OBP up a bit and his HR closer to 10 then you just massively upgraded the CF position

I really like Stanfield. Auburn was so bad offensively with Irish out that he had to be their main guy which isn't fair to him. He's a perfect 7-8-9 bat with amazing athleticism and SEC experience.

Yeah I dont think it’s insane to want to add another guy

Larson, Brown, Pearson, Curiel, Frey (sometimes) Cranfield

Jay probably sees somethjng in cranfield he can work with
Braswell’s numbers didn’t jump out at me either.

Well, the most basic answer is they need a true CF. Brown likely could grow into that spot but he was an athlete playing CF, not a CF’er

Agreed. Outfield is not crowded. We don't know what Cooley and Paul will do. Frey for that matter. Griffin won't happen. That will leave Brown, Larson, Curiel, Pearson, Harden and now Stanfield.

I could see larson more at first, doesnt really strike me as an outfielder with the way he moves or his arm

Agreed

I am not mad at an every day CF who his .280 in conference play, I think Jay could really work with him on his approach. he does not walk a lot, and that’s one thing Jay is really good at teaching.

Based on Johnson’s comments about the juco players I wouldn’t be surprised if Harden is on the back burner for next year unless they lose more than expected this Summer in the draft/portal.

I think I like the add as well. Brown hasn’t done it for a full season and you can’t depend on Curiel to be high impact player day 1. He wants to remove as many unknowns as he can.

options are always good.

last year we came in with too few.

I like going after guys with higher floors to have in case someone doesn’t work out.

Not surprising considering how much Jay values experienced hitters, especially SEC vets.

I was thinking about that as well. He's hitting decent in the Northwoods League, but he's still raw and the reps he could get at McLennan for another year could be very valuable for him.

Also, unless someone has figured it out and I just haven't, the new Cape Cod league site is fricking garbage. You can't get an individual player page and game by game stats anymore.

They went with the MLB style format and it's terrible.

Looks like this kid gives you some speed on the base paths so that should be fun to play around with

It'll be interesting to see if we try to use it. Brown, Curiel, and Stanfield is a lot of speed. We don't appear to have much power right now so maybe there's a change in offensive philosophy with this roster next season.
Is this any indication that Jay doesn't think Curiel will be a day 1 starter in CF?

John Pearson may be able to join his brother in this position group also and bring to it a potential big right handed bat.

When you think about it we went into this past year only having 1 or 2 spots in the lineup that didn’t have SEC at bats under their belt and were still considered “inexperienced”. 2025 we are gonna have even less sec experience depending on how much we lose to the draft. The Stanfield addition is great imo.

I don’t know what’s not to like about Stanfield. Maybe his lack of power, but he has plus speed and is a gamer.

If 2024 taught us anything, solo homers aren’t going to win you games. If he can get on base with 2 outs, he can steal 2nd, and now you’re a single away from a run. College teams need guys like that.

The only people that aren’t excited about this pickup are the ones that live under a rock and are expecting us to sign the next Tommy Tanks, Montgomery, or some other unicorn that isn’t in the portal this year.

It’s awful. I don’t like Pointstreak either.
