What is that, a 2 WHIP? I’d rather have Hal Hughes return

Kale Fountain just took his round of BP and it was pretty impressive. They are talking about the sound off the wood the bat being very impressive. Consistent upper 90s exit velo with quite a few 100+

Had multiple over 112. Expected it, but that sucks to see

Was definitely an impressive round of BP for Kale. The Myles Bailey guy that was hitting right before him was super impressive as well. Committed to FSU.

That graphic was from the first group. Kale had a 113 and 112.4. Go back and watch his BP round and it shows EV & LA on the right

I am guessing he was probably recruited or scouted by Jay in the past as he is from southern California and was the 6th rated LHP in California coming in 2022 with a national rank of 394 by PG

He is putting on a show in BP but that is nothing that the scouts didn’t already know. Whatever money he ends up making won’t have much to do with his performance in BP.

With them talking about him catching at the combine, it makes me feel like that’s what CJJ is hopefully trying to sell him on coming back. If Jones were to put together a season of catching, even as close to as good as his defense was at 1st this season, that’ll have to skyrocket him up the boards for the ‘26 draft.

Am I just totally off base here?

No. As a right handed hitting first baseman, his draft profile is limited. Even the very top bats over the last few years in that category (Andrew Vaughn, Spencer Torkelson) are struggling mightily. And Jones bat isn't considered on either of those guys level.

The only thing that would increase his draft profile is showing that he can be at least serviceable behind the plate as a professional. The positional versatility would make him way more valuable.

I'd be curious the amount of catching he has been doing over the last 2 years. I know he was still working as a C in some capacity as recent as the spring. He caught in 13 of 21 scrimmages in the fall and 4 of 10 scrimmages in the spring.
