But you can always find room for a top cornerback IMO
His combine numbers earlier in the year look pretty bad, maybe just a bad day? Seeing him play live Clean can he run with receivers on the deeper routes? Only ask bc didn’t see much of it in his short highlight tape.

His shuttle was above average
Vertical and 40 weren’t impressive, but that was almost a year ago.
And it was right after their season concluded, so there wouldn’t have been much time to prepare.

Those combine style drills require coaching and lots of practice, not to mention he was a sophomore then. If he's never ran track or prepared for those events, his times should improve greatly with maturity, reps, and properly coached technique. He doesn't look like a 4.9 athlete on film, very explosive out of breaks...

Arkansas offered him on Christmas day

I’m going to be pissed off if we miss this kid - particularly if we don’t even f@cling offer and make a run at him!!!!

Especially if the Georgia kid does the annual Clemson flip on us in December. I also want Jordan Allen.

And if it’s between a really good oos kid and a really good in-state kid, you have to take the in-state guy. CR has to have his 6’2” 170lb kid, but sometimes it’s the size of the dog that’s in the kid. Would CR have offered TM7? I say probably not.

I know exactly what you mean about Raymond obviously preferring CBs with specific measurements (6’2”, 170-180 lbs. like you mentioned).
And I get it that it’s advantageous for corners to be longer, lankier athletes. But dam, it’s also good to have some diversity amongst the athletes in our defensive backfield. Hell, some 6’0” DBs are better coverage defenders than 6’2”-6’3” guys w/ 78” wingspans. Being able to play coverage is a skill and if you got ‘it’ then you got ‘it’, regardless of measurable’s.
And in regard to J. Allen specifically, his nickname is “Lockdown” for Christ’s sake. Lastly, if the staff didn’t like is build/measurables for corner, his height & weight are perfect for safety. I would love to have Jordan as a free safety or at nickel

Haha, yep. I’m definitely preparing myself

What's the deal with him committing so early? Just making sure he has a spot?

I said this exact same thing about raymond in another thread and got killed.
"Ohh you know more than corey raymond"

Raymond has a certain type of CB he likes and we dont have any CBs listed under 6'1 on the roster. If anything they probably see Allen as a nickel/safety and maybe Allen doesnt see himself that way. I dont think the door is closed on Allen either way if he does commit next week or not.

I wonder if he is going to be the player lsu slow plays this year.
It happens every year.
Does anyone know where he is suppose to commit to? He must have an idea

Yeah I saw where him and Welch both ran in the 4.5’s on Twitter. Electric times that’s moving for high school juniors, so speed doesn’t seem to be an issue. He looks like a dude, hope he earns an offer soon.
