Kelly really got McKinley to flip before firing the entire staff

It’s a testament to our recruiting with how we essentially were cleaning “house” and still getting high level guys

It also demonstrates something I often say. It's not the position coaches who recruit for their position. Coaches recruit geographically most of the time.

i imagine that was the selling point to McKinley

McKinley is from Louisiana so they had an advantage and LSU wrote the check needed. Thats pretty much how recruiting goes now.

Yes, coaches do have their certain geographic areas.
Other factors were involved. It's possible McKinley may have been told changes were coming. Plus, he did not want to play for the new A&M coaching staff.

I suspect McKinley was probably informed there would be position coach changes. If you want to lose a player and destroy trust from the outset, lie to them just to get them to sign then pull the rug out from under them.

They probably were told this was going to happen before they commit. They also may have been told who will be hired to replace them

The kid was committed to A&M, then flirted with Texas while committed. Then he got Tennessees hopes up for 2 seconds before committing to LSU.
Recruiting is a wild ride sometimes.

Yep, I believe McKinley was definitely given NAMES of defensive coaches to come. Listen to his interview and he specifically mentions that he liked the coachES. Pretty sure, Kelly didn't give him the Bait and Switch by telling him the old coaches were going to stay. How can you like coaches if you don't even know who they are?

What coaches visited him at his home?

Maybe already been addressed but did McKinley send in his paperwork or just give a verbal pledge?

Kelly already knows who his defensive staff is going to be IMO, and let McKinley know who it is. I still think bo comes here.

Based on his history, until we get the paperwork, he isn’t a lock.
