Saban told you that's literally why he retired.

Jakheem.

Where USC is at as a program right now is overpaying for recruits. That's not going to get them anywhere.

Kettle meet pot. Don't act like coaches don't do the same damn thing. Hell most people do the same thing

It's really sad for these kids.....for a good number of them, all will be fine.
For a far too uncomfortable number of them, their parents/uncles/barbers/cousins' goldfish's uncle twice-removed will reap the financial rewards for the poor decisions they push these kids to make.

We tried to overpay for him as well. We offered him almost as much as we were offering Underwood.

We can either keep complaining about this, or figure out how to compete with the market.

Guys I think BK might not last long with this. I mean you can clearly see he’s sick of this sh** already. Hell I wouldn’t blame him if he retired early. This stuff is wild.

A&M already proved that for all to see - buying the best players possible doesn't mean shite if your coaching staff can't build them into a successful team.

That wasn't that long ago, so you'd think these kids would understand that.

Then again, maybe those same kids chasing bags think "Hey, those A&M boys got fat bags, didn't have to do crap, got away with everything, kept their money and then got to go play for other teams".

Yeah, seems about right given the state of CFB these days....

These comments always get misconstrued.

But I get it.

The money should be a big part of the overall discussion.

If it’s the singular driving force, then that’s a bad sign imo.

I wouldn’t make a career change based only on money.

It might not for USC but Dan Lanning at Oregon would beg to differ. They are loading up thanks to Nike money and he's actually a good coach.

Their average recruit distance from Eugene is almost 1,400 miles away. They just went all across the nation buying players

Exactly.

Been screaming from the rooftops about this. We're all chasing money and trying to get more of it. You're worth what someone is willing to pay you.

If a prospect can get more money from someone else, then good for him. Dude has to do what's best for him and his family just like we all do.

And I also wouldn’t hire someone just looking for more money.

That to me is the best part. If your an elite DL - wtf has USC done with anyone since Pete Carroll left. I can understand going to UT, OSU, Oregon but fricking USC is a joke. Their coach will probably be fired in the next 2 years because he’s not good.

They'll have $$ for a few years, then go broke - just like more than 50% of pro athletes.

Note to kids - be careful what you ask for...

In my experience, sometimes the fit outweighs the pay in the long run.
