When you sign a letter of intent you shouldn’t be able to jump ship and transfer to another team within the same conference Willy Nilly. There has to be rules imagine if in the NFL if any year of your contract you can just say bye I’m going to another team cause I feel like it.Coaches and players are not the same in any sport

Never should have had limitations on students to begin with. If coaches can change jobs without penalty, players definitely should be able to.

Well, let pay their own way to school. Those OOS fees are fat.

The National Letter of Intent is a contract, and its requirements haven’t changed - if the player doesn’t complete an academic year at the school they signed with, they have wait a year after transferring (or enrolling elsewhere) before they can compete and they lose a year of eligibility.

Those rules haven’t changed. But the NLI only applies for the player’s first academic year.

I didn’t check to see who you are replying to, but my guess is that you’re countering the argument that coaches leave all the time.

One of the ironic things here is that in the NFL, head coaches can’t just leave mid-contract to become head coach for another NFL team. I’ve never really understood the NFL comparisons when people argue this point. So college players should be held to the same standard as NFL players, but college coaches shouldn’t be held to the same standards as NFL coaches?

I’m not saying I support immediate transfer eligibility for players - I don’t. But I don’t think it makes sense to just give coaches a free pass either.

Could be the case but it's a whole new world in recruiting now. You're going to see a lot of games being played where players realize they can get more money by threatening to leave or by actually leaving.

So, you're saying that Sean cannot take the job in Dallas if he wants to? I'll hang up and listen....

Head coaches have a buyout clause in the contract if they leave. Somebody has to compensate the school that lost its coach. Not sure how it works for assistants.

I would venture this SWAG. Not till after the saints contract runs out. Think there would be legal action if it's before said timeframe. I'm no lawyer but, I use to watch Denny Crane.

Where are you hearing/reading this about Perkins to Jackson State??

I’ve yet to find any reliable reports that this is even a possibility…..

Nope. Not without compensation from Dallas. Meaning draft picks or players or both. CSP is under contract through 2026. And if Dallas's offer for CSP isn't deemed fair by the Saints and backed up by the league, the Cowboys can't have him. After 2026 he can do what ever the hell he wants to do. This is the point of a contract.

CSP is under contract through 2026.

Actually Paytons contract can be voided after next year, so in theory, the Cowboys or any other team only need to wait on year to hire him without having to compensate the Saints. But i have a feeling some team smay be willing to make compensations if it lands them Payton
