I don’t believe this to be the case for JBC - almost certain he will be enrolled at LSU for spring 2022 semester and be able to participate in spring practice with us

Unless this has already happened, he's got 1 day to get enrolled and going to classes here. Tomorrow is final day to add classes for spring semester.

Barring a PWO situation (or paying his own way for a semester at OkSU), I think that is pretty much required to be immediately eligible otherwise he won't have the hours to academically eligible.

Noting he wouldn't be able to catch up in the summer session(s) otherwise he would run into the same trouble Emery did by exceeding the summer limit on hours (to make up for some missed earlier).

Basically, by process of elimination, it's spring or bust when it comes to the waiver for immediate eligibility.

I imagine he did his paperwork and possibly even scheduling classes on his visit. That's very likely. If not, he has today and tomorrow to get it done. Considering the athletic department can get it done in hours if needed... there's plenty of time.

Lol. Um about that

Stacked is a big stretch, but Kelly and co have definitely rebuilt the secondary with enough talent to be good.

If he notified OSU of his intent to transfer after the start of the semester, they can’t pull his aid until the semester ends. Even if he entered the portal right before the semester technically “started,” I don’t know if schools are actually pulling financial aid midyear in these scenarios. It strikes me as a little petty/vindictive to pull a scholarship for the spring after a guy already gave you an all-conference season in the fall, during the same academic year. But maybe I’m in the minority there.

As an aside, it’s worth noting that this kid is 3x Academic All Big 12. So if he doesn’t enroll at LSU for the spring, it probably isn’t because of grades or anything. It’s possible that he’s scheduled to graduate in the spring at OSU.

Regardless we will find out this week as you said.

I’m sure the process of him enrolling likely started when he announced he was entering his name In the portal. Most of these kids know where they want to go and I’m sure there were a lot of back channel efforts happening on his behalf to get him eligible and enrolled for the spring.

I’m not sure this is the case if he is a grad transfer, which I think he might be.

But honestly there’s so many technical rules about all that crap but I really don’t know exactly how it all works.

Bottom line for me - I think he will be practicing with the Tigers come spring. But I could be wrong

4 year starter, so I guess he’s using his Covid-shirt here. One and done. Should fill the gap nicely.

I mean, it doesn't matter if he graduates in the spring semester. He'd just be a regular grad transfer at that point and I doubt the undergrad transfer rules apply to him but I could he wrong.

My bad... didn't realize he was a grad transfer.

If he hasn't graduated yet, the rules apply.

If a grad transfer the rules are different but have some similarities. One of those would be he be enrolled (and accepted) into a graduate program. However, the graduate program academic calendar vs. NCAA eligibility rules may be different. The whole "spring semester" thing vs. enrolling is likely moot or does not apply. I.e., the Jan 27th date (like you said) isn't a factor.
