Would he get 2 years of eligibility remaining (Senior Year + COVID extra year)?

He would have to get a waiver but I've heard people say that's not expected to be an issue. Doesn't seem to be a matter of if he's coming to LSU, just a matter of when he announces.

NCAA said they are going to be cracking down on 2nd time transfers and not handing out waivers but who knows if they actually will.

CMM needs him. This LSU team currently has very poor point guard play.

I'd love to see Cook return to LSU. But if you are the NCAA and make a big deal about severely restricting the criteria for a waiver I don't see how you can't follow through. Otherwise, you (continue) to lose all credibility.

What I'm anticipating is you are going to start seeing a return to what we had before the current transfer rules. That is, lawyers creating some sort of sob-story as to why a guy should get a waiver to be immediately eligible. Think Justin Fields in his quest to go from Georgia to Ohio St.

They are trying to crack down on it but the stipulations for waiver approval still left things wide open to interpretation basically. The conditions on getting an approval on a waiver are anyone's guess really depending on whats submitted.

Which is why I dont really like the new rules on waivers, because it just seems like it's going to causing even more confusion and guessing game as to whether someone will be eligible or not. And with the NCAA taking their sweet time as it is, how many of these wont get approved in time or will take INTO the actual season to make a decision leaving players not playing is my question.

If a player still has a redshirt left, I don't see why they wouldn't allow them to burn that to avoid sitting a year.

Which brings me to a pet peeve. Basketball should allow a player to play 10 games or so while redshirting like they do in football.

They very well might be the initial pieces that do that.

Cook would be a big upgrade over Hill, and might be the most important addition, if he is able to play next year.
Wright was a nice addition, because he brings a talent upgrade, but he may not even be a starter, since I think he'll play SF, and I think Ward will start at SF. He could play PF, but I think Reed will start at PF. We'll also get Mwani back, and he will probably start at SF, if Ward doesn't win the job.

If we keep the rest of our players and get Cook, then my main remaining concern is finding an offensive replacement for KJ and our rebounders. Will Baker may come close to replacing what KJ did offensively and rebounding, but he would be a small downgrade in both, so we'll still need another quality low post player, especially if we lose Phillips and Coleman. We've potentially lost all of our centers, and best rebounders. Maybe Reed, Fountain, or Chest could play center, but they would be playing out of position, so I hope we get someone that has done it well.
