The whole “slow play” story is myth, created after the fact.
Travis never was interested in LSU, which is fine.
But the stuff from the family afterwards was fiction and definitely biased against the Tigers.
After Travis left for Clemson, nothing more need be said, til his family began the noise…

We wanted Cam Akers over him and when that didn't work out,
our consolation prize was Clyde Edwards Hilliare.

O thought for sure he had Cam Ackers from MS, who was subsequently “bought” by Jimbo Fisher while he was at FSU. So, he offered Etienne late, whose mom had her feelings hurt.
Same thing happened to the big DT from Houston on signing day that year.
