He definitely bought them a few wins during his tenure that they otherwise probably don't win: 99' semifinal game against Ruston--he just bulldozed and pulverized Ruston's vaunted defense in the second half like nothing I have ever seen; 00' against Moss Point Mississippi when he went ape crazy and I believe scared some of their players in the second half he was hurting them so bad.

Seen him get kicked out of a game against Salmen (I believe) when they jabbed him in the crotch over and over. Believe that was in 98 or 99.

That one extra year sure did him some good maturity wise and as a leader.

Maybe more schools and parents can learn some of the advantages for the kids maturity wise in doing so. You act like it is such a crime..

But, seriously, the age thing is blown completely out of proportion.

His freshman year then. I just remember how it was getting out of hand as it was obvious he was gesturing to the coaches that they were prodding his stuff. Refs didn't get ahead of it and he lost it. Then was screaming and ranting down the sideline P.O'ed. Game was ugly; sloppy; and low scoring.

West Monroe is not the only high school playing with alot of 19 year olds, it is a fairly common practice now.

Their advantage comes in large part from their strength and conditioning, their S+C is second to none.

I have zero problem with holding kids back, I think it's great actually.
But I couldn't help but laugh at the WM kids that were held back twice. Eight grade 3 years in a row?? That shite makes me laugh every time i think about it.

Lots of butthurt Monroe people here. I guess when your city looks like arse and smells like shite you don't have much else to be proud about than high school football. They do breed some top tier football talent though, no denying that. If only they could get that freaking paper mill shut down... Ray Charles could tell you when you're coming up on Monroe before you see the first sign on the interstate

That's the dump on I-20 you smell. That was a genius move by Monroe's leadership. West Monroe paper mill doesn't smell nearly as bad as it used to and some of that odor may actually be the meth heads in Bawcomville.

You are saying there is no dump where you live? So your trash just piles up in your home? LOL Your house smells like Millhaven Rd in Monroe. That makes sense. You've already proven you are too dumb to understand Monroe and West Monroe are two different cities.

Terrible place to live? As compared to where? That crime infested hell hole, NOLA? That paper mill employees over 1000 people and they make a very very good living! My dad, 2 uncles, and grandfather worked there and and that papermill allowed my mom to stay at home and raise 3 boys! Have a coke and smile and STFU!!!

Man, as a South Louisiana native and former 5A coach I could not disagree more. Moved to Northeast La several years ago. Absolutely love it. Aside from high school football, it's a sportsmen's paradise that offers superb fishing and hunting. The culture in NELA is based on a solid foundation of faith, family, and high school football. I respect the diversity of every part of this great state we live in. I say there are some good things happening in Ouachita Parrish. In example, Century Link, IBM, Duck/Buck Commander, Skyjacker, Coca-Cola, and Delta Airlines.

That was a childish post. Jeez.

I've never been to Monroe but I've heard nothing but good things.

Great post.

People on this forum wold be jealous of where I live. I have my own swamp that has been cultivated and has some of the biggest bass in Louisiana in it: caught a 12 pounder 2 weeks ago. Had someone from waterpro down the road come out and check our lake and it's health. He goes around Texas, Louisiana, and Missisippi checking local lakes and ponds. He said ours was the best he had ever seen. In SWARTZ FREAKING LOUISIANA?? What?? Say it isn't so. This dump? I have crawfish and Bream along with bullheaded catfish. Turtles and bullfrogs galore with the bullfrogs singing their deep tune every afternoon. An occasional alligator. Then I have wildlife and woods for acres behind me that I can walk and see whenever I wish.

Nah, but it is a DUMP!!! Believe it or not North Louisiana has some of the wettest wetlands with a good rainfall that allows for great vegetation and a voluptuous wildlife. I love it here. Blessed beyond measure.
