How is FSU getting kids to commit without using a scholarship? I’ve seen 2 in the past couple days including today’s 4 star QB commit.

How is this legal?

Then why aren’t we doing it? We’re over here crunching scholarships

Norvell could be telling them that they expect more FSU players to leave in the spring portal. Then, a scholarship would be given to the new player.

Nope, can't be NIL. The NCAA wasn't that stupid. You are not allowed to have walk-ons get NIL in order to increase the real "scholarship" number to be above 85 in the fall. And it would be incredibly easy to track that...not to mention that I can promise you the other teams would be more than happy to rat you out.

Was NILSU the biggest front of the century?

So they are grayshirting until a scholarship is available and collecting backloaded NIL money to cover the Spring expenses. The NCAA may not be stupid but it isn't as smart as you think.

Don’t know about football but in baseball kids are not taking the little scholarship money offered so that they can have more than 1 transfer without sitting. Especially transfer portal kids . I’ve heard it’s a rule a school has to offer a scholarship for transfer portal kids in baseball but a kid dosent have to accept it . Again not sure how football works

Are they announcing or is it just assumed?

The schools don’t have to say publicly whether it’s a walk-on or not.

“Expected to join as a walk-on”

So no one really knows.

NILSU was supposed to be utilized the real way NIL was intended to be.

Now it has become outright pay for play with the wild west transfer portal.

Spirit of the rule, correct. However nothing concerning NIL follows the spirit of the rule. The NCAA cant do anything about the money the kids have already made and then use to pay their way for a semester with a wink they'll be reimbursed. NCAA has no power to dig into the details of these kids finances to prove where the money came from. They'll just say they already made it before transferring.

Essentially it's the grayshirt rule being used like a poster above suggested. Ausberry is using it too.

Trever Jackson sucks. He's rated a 4 star because the Nimrods at Elite 11 fell for his workouts in shorts and t-shirt. It sucks that this kid got opportunities that should have been presented to real QBs.

He was BENCHED as a senior in high school (in favor of a sophomore).

He is the perfect example of everything wrong with QB recruiting. He has decent measurables, is very fast and has a great arm.

But...he's wildly inaccurate and is NOT A QB. He completed 55% of his passes in mop up duty, throwing 7 TDs and 5 INTs.

Let FSU have him.

You will have to show me that. I am nearly 100% certain you are wrong. How can they legally prohibit any player on a team from getting a name image and likeness deal? If they could stop that they could stop NIL outright. They can prevent the school from being directly involved in NIL.

Pretty sure this isn’t correct. BYU had an NIL deal for every player on the team. No way it’s legal to limit what someone can earn based on them being a walk-on.
