He never wanted to leave but his dad made him because of the grey shirt deal. Now he doesn't have a scholarship at all.

This is the first I have heard of this. Has this been posted on the board before? He was a 4 star guy wasn't he, I imagine he would be a welcome addition as a walk on.

I can see somewhere down the line LSU and CLM "making this right" no matter how they really feel so it ends up being a feel good story for ESPN to kiss. Get even more pub from it.
If the kid comes back to LSU after all of that then it is obvious how much he loves the program. LSU should send them the story with fingers held high after the get him back (scholarship or not) and when he graduates

yes unless he somehow convinces the NCAA otherwise in some hardship case deal or something.
He did RS this year at UK I think so that means he will have 3 years to play at LSU

It would be nice to see this kid back at LSU on scholarship. If he gets one this year...great. He could also transfer, which means he'd have to sit out a year, and get the scholarship next year.

Would that condition only be for this year right?
I have seen before where a kid gets a release and leaves under that condition, goes to a JUCO or something and then signs with the school they wanted to go to or the conference they wanted to go to.
Didnt Cam do that?
Maybe not but I thought it just meant the player cannot leave and go directly to one of the restricted programs on scholarship but they could walk-on OR take a year of JUCO and hope to get in the next year.

He is enrolled at LSU currently and will Walk On to the football team.
