just a little more from Shea:

"Porter said that he has it worked out to where he will walk on to the #LSU football team. He took a redshirt at Kentucky this past season."

Sorry not to research, but did he play last year at UK?

I don't know what the transfer rules are: Will he be a frosh this year if he RS'd at UK?

Porter will be a good, if not great OL.

Pretty sure he was recruited as an OL.

Miles released him unconditionally and it appears Dooley has done the same. Both men are to be commended.

Porter was a fool in his Sr year at Shaw... Like a Freak Jr on the field...
look, no disrespect to this kid but i have played against him and seen him play a few times and he in no way comes close to Freak. when we played against him we didnt even double team him, he faced one on one blocks all night and made maybe 3 or 4 tackles. the only thing he had going for him was his size because he really lacked explosiveness and technique. i am not saying he doesnt have potential and cant be coached up but to compare him to Freak is a little rediculous imo.

Porter? He was a 3 star guard per Rivals.

I know scout had him as a tackle, but I think everyone knew he would be a guard and was the only other offensive lineman taken with Washington last year.

No disrespect taken... I'm in Cali now and didn't have the opportunity to see Freak on the field(besides the army game)... So my comparison was indeed premature, but I disagree about Porter lacking explosiveness & raw talent/technique - Kid pretty much camped the backfield...

Porter was rated a 4* DT by Rivals for a while but when they moved him to OG in the rankings they dropped him to a 3*.He has more potential as an OG than DT.Not enough speed at DT for the coaches. They want guys that run under a 5.0 40 and Porter didn't fit that. He's got very good potential as a OG and i welcome him back aboard.Congrats to the kid for getting what he wanted all along,to be a LSU Tiger.

Thanks, this should lend credence to the opinion that ESPN was full of shite and it was a hatchet piece. What are the chances they do a follow up?

Elliot played exclusively defensive line, but he was banged up for the majority of his senior season. Many "experts" that saw him in camps claimed that he had NFL potential as an offensive lineman. LSU recruited him to play O-line.
