Thanks for the melt! I love a good one!

Not a melt. We legitimately could end up with a class outside the top 10…in a non coaching change year

Top 10 yes, top 5 probably not

Seriously you're just a troll. Why do you post here?

Relax, the class may still finish top 10 but starting with the 26 class we will likely have at the very least another 3 mil to spend on recruits. We are still paying Oregon 3 mil a year to not coach here. Only 3 teams in the top 10 have fired their previous coach within the last 3-5 years. FSU is no. 6 with this being the last year of Willie Taggerts buyout (3.5 million and renewed fanbase), Florida is no. 3 with Mullen buyout only being 1 million a year until 27, and Tennessee is no. 10 and they fired Pruitt for cause with no buyout. So basically we are fighting an uphill battle in recruiting this year and possibly next due to Oregeons buyout while the rest of top 10 either isnt paying buyouts, ending their buyouts this year or pay very little.
Edited to add: According to On3 NIL Value that extra 3 million would buy all of OSU's no. 2 class. Yes I doubt On3 has the numbers right but the point remains the same, we will hopefully have extra money for NIL soon.

What team has won a national championship with an average 6-12 recruiting class finish?
The argument is what is the difference between 6-12. So this comment is retarded and I hope for your sake you see why.

Yea, and even his stupid response was wrong, because multiple teams have done it, including LSU.

Clemson who had back to back generational QBs?
None of those were “generational QBs”

Yeah, that's not how this works

I think we finish like 7th or 8th, and most importantly we meet our needs.
We need DTs, whether they are high schoolers, from Juco, or the portal, we need impact players on the defensive line, and a permanent coach. I hope it's Lindsay, but right now other schools have too much negative recruiting fodder.
I'm proud of the way LSU has stood beside Lindsay, and I hope he makes a full recovery and is able to be our coach for years to come.
I also hope he is honest with himself and doesn't put his health at hazard because he wants to do what he loves.
Its selfish, but I really want that situation resolved, but I also recognize that only time can heal this situation.

Relying on the transfer portal just isn't the answer if you want to be a consistent contender. We clearly see this by looking at our defense this year. Brian Kelly has said as much, but we'll be scouring the portal again this offseason because we're desperate for defensive players. If we're not lucky there, the defense could be even worse next year.
We're not having the same issues with offensive recruiting, so there just have to be significant changes to the defensive staff. If you're another school recruiting defensive players against LSU, it's just too easy right now.
Maybe LSU sneaks into the top 10, but that's not going to solve the problems on defense. The focus has to on revamping the defensive staff with some elite recruiters. I think Brian Kelly may have overestimated how easy it would be to recruit Louisiana kids.

So tell me how it works then. This is my understanding
There a pool of total money from revenue and donations. We use that money to pay Orgeron 3 million a year. Donations come from same people that pay NIL for the most part (boosters). So once we are done paying Orgeron can we not use that 3 million surplus for nil? Thats assumming we usually get the same amount from boosters each year give or take some of course which Im pretty sure its consistent since Woody is a pretty good fundraiser. I get that the university cannot pay players and but they do tell the boosters who to pay for the nil.

If LSU finishes between 6-8, and it includes landing Reliford and some JUCO DT's + Bussey and keeping Bates, you'd have to objectively look at this class as a huge success.
Mind you, Kelly recruited in the 10-15 range at Notre Dame and had a top 5-10 program. This would put LSU with consecutive classes in the 5-10 range, which would suggest an ability to compete at a top 5 level. Not to mention the fact that Louisiana was down and there is a strong indication that 2025 and 2026 could be special in our base (Louisiana and TX), which likely leads to a top 3-5 class. In a long term sense, people should be really positive about the program.

We may be looking at finishing closer to top 15 after losing Evans than it's looking like Baites is about to flip to Tennessee

Baites is all but gone

We'll be lucky to get a top 20 class.

Serious question...how long have you followed recruiting?

Neither was Tom Brady. Did he suddenly become "generational" in hindsight? Manning was the generational guy.
Real question, what does the term even mean in the sense of today's usage? Every year we hear about "generational" talents. Seems folks don't know what generational means. Jordan, Lebron; Nicklaus, Tiger; Earnhardt, Gordon; Bonds/Griffey, Trout. Generations can overlap but generally the first is at the end of theirs. Generally speaking 15-20 years start to start. Or simpler terms, your heroes vs your sons. Generational, like great or elite, is just a buzz word with a different interpretation from its true meaning.

We need both. Florida State used the transfer portal to be contenders
