The defensive side of the ball at LSU is leaderless at the moment. Hoping Kelly fixes all this in the offseason.

This defense is so lost it’s funny. We have no DL coach, a DB coach that should be coaching a high school team, and a DC that has completely shite the bed. To top it all off none of them can recruit and our defense and offense will be worse next year. Not a good look people

There are decisions that amateur fans would have made that this staff didn’t, like finding a fill in replacement real DL coach. What the hell did they see this off season that gave them any confidence in this defense? Especially with how good JDs passing is.
My only hope is Kelly put together a great offense, and fix a lot of our ST issues — surely he can do this on D. I still can’t get over how incompetent everyone has been surrounding this whole situation.
Recruiting is another issue. Who knows what is actually happening. Does our staff even enjoy recruiting?

Kentucky fans said House was not a recruiter. We don't have a DL coach. Cooks doesn't have a history of being a good recruiter. Steeples is still learning how to coach CBs.
You really need at least one quality recruiter on each side of the ball, especially if the HC is not a top recruiter. I feel confident that with Davis, Frank, Sloan and Hankton we have good recruiters offensively. Even Denbrock can recruit TEs. It almost feels like defensive recruiting is an after thought.

Great. Everyone knows that there will be a major shakeup of the defensive staff (or there better be). That leaves recruiting in limbo as we come up to early signing day. Portal, here we come! SMH

I wouldn't trust any amateur or expert fan to make any decisions on the program. Remember when Orgeron did that with Canada?
Regarding the dline coach, what were they supposed to do? Lindsey stepped away in august, which was right before the pre-season started. Most coaches are locked in to other programs at that point. Especially the top tier ones.
People keep acting like it's no big deal to just fire a coach who is having health issues and expect some top tier coach to come flocking to lsu and leave their current team right before the start of the season. That's the issue with this theory fans keep throwing around.
The reality is coaching circles are small and close. If we fired a guy for getting sick we wouldn't have gotten anyone worth while to come in on short notice and it sends a bad message to all other coaches. They should have brought in Pete earlier I will say that, but he could have had other obligations.
Also, I have seen people say you just move lindsey to an off field position like Kragthorpe but Kragthorpe wanted to do that. If Lindsey didn't you can't just move him to whatever analyst or off the field role when he is under contract as our d line coach.
It was/is a shitty situation that's costing us in recruiting no doubt, but I don't see any way they could have made it better faster other than getting Pete in earlier, which none of us really have the story on that time-line either.

Lsu needs to go out and spend some money on upgrading this staff on defense.
No more playing around. Go steal some tip coaches and recruiters from schools like Oregon, a&m(robinson), and Georgia.
There are plenty coaches out there at smaller schools that can recruit and coach.
