Only a sophomore and he starting right tackle. Getting talked up pretty good by the announcers here.

yes...

Not really, sort of similar to Cody Ford but we were at least more interested in Ealy, just never heavily pursued. Staff has whiffed on some of the best in-state OL unfortunately.

Man we got fricked on in-state prospects in 2017. Ealy, Etienne, Chris Alllen, Devonta Smith, Jordan-Swilling, Mathis. Bad times. I understand it with the limbo the program was in but I’m so glad we got our luster back and are locking down the in state guys

According to Ealy, OU and Arizona recruited him the hardest throughout the entire recruiting process. He was sold on OU after his official visit and the rest is history. Had OU not offered him, he would have committed to AZ.
Obviously LSU had Deculus as their #1 OT. The signing of Seth Stewart OT was a complete bust as the kid went back home to WV after 1 week on campus

I look forward to him being our head coach in 40 years.

We had our eyes on Ford and Ealy at camp and passed on both. Could have used both.

Swilling doesn’t start for Georgia Tech

Ok? What’s your point?
If the guy isn’t starting for Georgia Tech then how exactly were we fricked by not signing him? Which linebacker we signed that year would you have replaced him with?
That’s his point.

I met him and his dad at a Popeyes in Alabama when he was on his way to visit Tennessee. At the time he was just about to turn 17. He was a large fellow and I asked if he was in college? Dad chuckled and said he is just 16.

I still remember the days when this board was melting about not having Linebackers

This is the recruiting board, genius. I was reminiscing and talking about recruiting in 2017, not who I’d prefer to have on my team in 2020. I literally listed off the prospects in the top 10 who didn’t sign with us with no further commentary, which is generally what recruiting is about. Hindsight is 20/20. Would you trade Jarrett or Roy for lower ranked prospects this cycle because some random 3* is going to be a 1st round pick in 3 years?
We got fricked in RECRUITING in 2017. I wouldn’t trade Chaisson for Allen, or Mathis for Ika, or Smith for Chase/Marshall, but we objectively had a really rough time in 2017 with top in-state prospects and you shouldn’t be posting on this board if you weren’t already aware of that.
Bruce Jordan-Swilling was also recruited as an athlete who was primarily a running back FYI. He didn’t play LB in high school, he was a high 4* running back, and was ranked higher than every RB we signed that year, so your snarky post doesn’t really make much sense does it?
ThAt’S HiS PoiNt. So tired of how many morons who don’t know what the frick they’re talking about but want to be a smartass anyway on this website. STFU if you didn’t pay attention to recruiting back then and just want to nitpick 1 player out of the 7 I listed, which wouldn’t affect my point anyway.

Dude you don’t need to write a fricking novel. You said in 2017 we got fricked in recruiting and listed a linebacker who’s not even starting for a horrible Georgia tech team to prove a point. Instead of admitting how stupid it is, you double down. Stop being a fricking retard.

You are mentally challenged. That is all.

Good point, as I recalled LSU did evaluate Ealy. I was hoping he would get an offer.
Not that surprising that he has done so well at Oklahoma.

I know his older brother Andrew. I was told Jeff Grimes slow played his recruitment which allowed Oklahoma to make Adrian feel more welcome there. Oklahoma & Bob Stoops made getting Ealy a priority.

Excellent and thank you for the expertise.

Yes, OU did a tremendous job recruiting him.
It seemed like Grimes let a few other good OL get away.
