Appears to run well and mixes it up a little. He can def help the rotation down low. Good get.

I’ll say that this staff has been pretty dang accurate in recruiting guys that can contribute and fill roles.

Strong inside player with a nice jump hook. Crashes the boards well and runs the floor well on breaks. Looks like a good pickup by Wade.

This guy was definitely overlooked in JUCO. Moves well like you mentioned. Plus he has very good footwork on the post. Not the quickest, but neither was Tim Duncan. Seems to be a heady players as well. That Bball Iq will get him a lot of playing time.

So, can we infer that we've decided that dreaming of N’Faly Dante re-classifying and coming here is not realistic and this is a backup plan?

Not trying to be a downer; I'm glad we had one...

Probably, but Wade still has one spot left in this class, so there's a glimmer of hope.

No. This guy should be for depth, and could possibly redshirt. I expect Emmitt and Watford to be the two starting post players.

Correct. Your opening day lineup is likely to be Watford, Williams, Taylor, Mays and Smart. Then off the bench it's Days, Bishop, Manning and Hyatt, with Cooper and this guy finishing out the rotation giving you size off the bench.

When he signed with Winthrop, and I don't know what happened to pull him out of there, here was what was in the release about him...

...

Thomas (6-9, 235lb) comes to the Eagles from Florida Southwestern Junior College, which held a #1 NCJAA national ranking for most of the 2018-19 season. Thomas was one of many D1 players on the roster as he averaged 6.9 points, 4.3 rebounds. The Columbia, SC native was a two-time All-Region and All-State selection. Thomas led A.C. Flora to a state championship in 2016.

Kelsey on Thomas~
"DeShawn will be one of the most athletic bigs in our conference. His ability to finish around the rim and above the rim is elite. He has great toughness, runs the floor extremely well and possesses a high motor. He played at one of the best junior colleges in America at FSW. Eric Murphy and his staff coach those guys up. It's like a D1 program."

6’6” & 6’8” isn’t getting it done

Basketball is getting more athletic. It isn’t getting taller.

If only there wasn't an over-reaction by our previous AD and admin folks during the climax of basketball recruiting this would likely have not been an issue.

Now what we lack in size under the rim we will have to make up with strength, quickness and depth. I'm still optimistic.
