I like it, makes me wonder if they're just letting recruits choose whatever they want to wear in pictures and that's why we're seeing all of these all white uni combos. I don't know how all of it works but it makes you wonder.

Well he’s definitely the first recruit I’ve seen rocking all purple

Not that I like this particular get up, but I do like variety. We should wear alternates for the 3-4 non-conference games a year and the traditionals in SEC play. Jmo

Apparently it’s a hit with the recruits also. Look good, feel good, play good. I’m in.

Poor dude got his thread hijacked by our uni opinions.

(Neck votes for the all-white package. They're clean and Jarvis took some Auburn bastard's soul in that setup once upon a time.)

Don’t know how likely we are to out duel Michigan for a kid from Detroit but this kid is the real deal. Would love to get him in purple and gold.

With all the crap that just went down with Harbough, we may actually have a pretty big shot with this kid.

This kid is between us and Notre Dame. Michigan isn’t in it.

I like the Purple/Purple/Purple combo. My only gripe is that helmet was for those special uniforms a few years back and it doesn’t match the purple of the jersey and pants.

I'm not saying this WILL happen, but with recruiting being so competitive it is not out of the realm of possibility a coach would promise a big recruit the opportunity to wear alternate uniforms as a selling point. Notre Dame is as traditional as anyone. Their gold helmets are iconic. But they wore alternate uniforms multiple times under Kelly. So he is clearly not above doing so.

If for some reason the ability to wear an all purple uniform for one game is the thing that tips the scales towards you for a player you thing will be a huge addition to your team, you have to consider meeting that request. A coach will be fired much quicker for losing in the schools traditional uniforms than he will be for winning in the occasional alternate uniform.

I tend to believe NIL $$$ is what tips the scale in recruiting these days - much more so than promising the opportunity to wear alternate uniform combinations.

Just my two cents…..

No one is saying it doesn't. But people are fickle. Especially 16, 17, 18 year old kids. If, for whatever reason, the promise to wear a certain uniform makes a big difference, a smart coach doesn't totally dismiss it just to prove a point. That's the case even if you or I think the uniform is terrible.

I hear you, and I wouldn’t be surprised if coaches make concessions to recruits like you mentioned.

And frankly, I would consider an “alternate uniform combination” a cheap benefit to exchange for a 5* QB!!
