horseshite take. LSU is not a "highly regarded university"?

Pretty simple, either he wants to come here or not. I, like some others, don’t think he is a make or break talent for this class. Like others have said, if he comes, great. But, if he doesn’t, oh well.

Good to see, Polian was there on the 29th, so the follow up by House was quick. Kelly and House both need to get by there again as quick as they can.

House said his ability in space is what impressed him the most. He watched all his game film and saw him in practice. Said he was better in space than anybody out there.

You guys watch his demolition highlight. You aren’t privy to his gamefilm.

There is a reason there are coaches coming in that school one after another. Geez

I don’t think one person in saying we don’t want him here, in fact we are all saying he is a no brainer take and hope he ends up a Tiger.

I think when players like Tackett Curtis come off as having the look at me and I’m not getting the love I should be getting it just rubs some the wrong way. Nothing more, nothing less. And when that happens you kinda start really looking at the kid and saying, damn is he really all that. None of us know that, but they have had people that have watched him play that says he plays stiff. Those things can be seen on game film but it surly isn’t enough to say we don’t want him here. I hope he ends up being a LSU Tiger!

Right, he said nothing about this kid passing up the last 4 or 5 years of his free life to rock it at LSU in favor of spending those years in the scrotum of America to get absolutely no benefit.

But some kids want to leave the state and I do understand that. But OSU??? Somebody is on crack...

I think fans should stop trying to figure out why a player commits or transfers to a school that wouldn’t have made much sense a few years ago. Staying in state because it’s your state school or your favorite since childhood is not going to carry the weight it once did, sadly. Last year was just a prelude because it was so new and I think that the big money was mostly reserved for the more elite players, but I suspect most recruits have widened up and are going to play the system better. There are always going to be exceptions like Campbell and Howard, but the rule now is that most players that have the value are going to go where someone is willing to show them the money. Until something significant is done, which I really question is even feasible now, it will get worse and worse with more schools trying to keep up with the Joneses/Aggies. I’m one who believes that this recent talk about the NCAA going back and looking at past NIL abuses is going to amount to a stern finger pointing from the NCAA at best. They are losing power faster than Biden.

Coaches were coming through ND every week when DJ Welter was a senior and we saw how that turned out

He will go to OSU or USC and look pretty good against Big Ten and Pac 12 athletes but they'll get in the playoffs and ask him to cover someone like Jamyr Gibbs or play zone against 2 slot receivers from Bama than run 4.2s and he'll look just like that poor white kid from OSU did in the 2020 NC game

Pete Werner was totally abused by Devonta Smith and company.

Yep . If this kid is the next wunderkind ,surely college is not the end game. The NFL will be the difference in a good player , and an all pro .The degrees don't seem to matter quite as much when you've signed a 5 year $50,000,000 contract .W/o being on the inside ,it's hard to imagine the kid believes EVERYTHING OSU or anywhere else tells him, even w/his family being in the coaching business.

The coaching staff is handling this well.

Do your due diligence to legally recruit the kid as hard as you possibly can, and once he makes a decision, you proceed accordingly.

The biggest thing is to not be caught without a backup plan, which I have confidence that Kelly won't do.

Yes seriously.
LSU is typically rated somewhere outside the top 150 in rankings (yes, I know those rankings are imperfect) .
There are some good disciplines(engineering for example) and grad schools, but over all, LSU is not a very highly regarded institution of higher learning, unless you are comparing it to Louisiana colleges and universities.
Sorry to be the one to break the news...

Academically speaking, Ohio State and Wisconsin are much more highly regarded than LSU, but it's also not like they are Ivy league or something.

ETA: I don't think that Ohio State or Wisconsin are highly regarded enough (academically) to have that greatly influence his decision, but they are definitely a step above LSU in that sense.

The fact is if he chooses LSU, great. I don't care for letting 17-18 year olds being allowed to run a major college football program. If he needs his butt kissed, let him get that elsewhere. I remember the melt when Dylan Moses and his dad tried by saying if Miles wad fired he would sign elsewhere. People melted thinking Moses was the greatest LB on earth not realizing we had a much mu h better LB already in the building. Don't melt if this kid leaves, there will always be someone bigger, stronger and faster,. The coaches just need to find him.

Serious question, how many targeting penalties was he flagged for, if any ? He aims awful high ? Fixable, I know, just curious if flagged any games. TIA

"persistent contact" has to be a large bulk of the strategy here. And it is warranted. Tackett would be a huge pickup no matter how fluid/stiff he looks at this point.

He will get the carousel of coaches from us... and others. Yes there's an element of attention seeking (very common of recruits) but he and his parents are also seeking alot of information and they want big picture information- what's the plan, what's the role, what's the defense, what's the degree/academic plan look like, what's the depth chart look like, etc.

Many recruits get focused on one or two things, for example early playing time. And some coaches get stuck in that rut with their sales pitches. Can't do that here (*in walks Polian*).

There is no anti-LSU bias here. We just needed to recruit him properly. That strategy is now being deployed. Part of the issue has been the "downgrading" of the smaller schools... but when someone like Tackett is out there you can't let that be part of the evaluation of the player. You have to account for competition in your evaluation. But it can not define or rule out an evaluation. All this can apply to OL on a wide spectrum too.
