Something to think about is alot of these kids have seen Alabama be a dominate contender now for 4 years. Since they were 12,13,14 years old. Makes a difference IMO,
Not that LSU hasn't been as well, but it's gonna sway a few.

It's not like LSU hasn't had any success in their lifetimes. Miles is 5-3 against Bama during that "dominate" stretch.

My point is they have seen us be a quality team for several years, just like lsu, where a few years ago it wasn't that way.

Maybe it doesn't make a difference, just a thought.

Now all of a sudden we are losing top recruits to Alabama which has a long list of past recruiting violations. We
please realize that LSU has had their fair share of violations before saying shite like this dude.

You have a valid point. I don't think most rational fans would argue that Bama is a premier program right now. At least I would hope not.

you should see the shite on Tigerbait.

13-1 SEC Champions
Beat Bama at home
and they think we are currently on equal footing.

truth is, we're not. we are right there...but it's not equal. January 9th showed that there isn't an equal footing with bama right now.

I know what you are saying and have argued the same thing, but I have to comment on the Bama arrogance

Dominate contnender

Perhaps we need top define dominant. Being a contender every year does not necessarily = dominance.

I can't believe you actually posted this. Don't you realize had our guys not been relaxed and taking in the glory of the moment we would had won the NC. Bama had all the momentum to win the game and we were not as hungry. We have as good or much better program than Alabama. For any LSU fans who don't get this is nuts.

so all it would have taken that night was just relaxing and taking in the glory?

that's it?

you didn't see any other reason why LSU lost that night?

I agree. LSU has been as well. To me the difference is the media coverage of Saban and Miles. A few high profile recruits will be swayed from time to time as a result of media love. The Bear used to cherry pick a few from each state on reputation and the opportunity to win championships. High school recruits don't compare NFL drafts, but they do listen to the unending praise for Saban prepping players for the pros.

Maybe, maybe not. A LOT of kids that are getting ready to go to college are sick of the area they grew up in and want to go somewhere new. This is probably especially true if a kid grew up in a bad neighborhood or in extreme poverty. I would guess that if I grew up in the ghetto and had the chance to more to another state, leave all of the bad influences behind, and be treated like a king I would jump all over it.

because bama knew LSU was one dimensional as long as JJ was at QB.

If LSU beats bama next year, and we have similar records are we on equal footing again, IYO?

He is a top 5 coach at a top 5 school...it shouldn't be THAT hard to figure out.

I consider the teams at the top of the sec a dominate contender for a NC, we all know our conference is a step ahead of everyone.

Bama has been at or near the top for the last 4 years along with LSU and Florida at first, and auburn's brief moment.

I shall leave and go back to the sec rant though. Things still a little touchy over here.

Stop making sense.

ETA: This doesn't apply in the cases of Collins/Devall, and those have been discussed to death, but it is certainly the case in many recruits choosing to leave "the Muck" and Miami areas in Florida, S.C.L.A., and NOLA in the past.

NATidefan's point about Bama being in the limelight so much over these kids teenage years is more true and important than people give credence to. They are in the same vein as the Carroll USC teams in stature. That plays a huge role in recruiting. The media age we're currently in exposes these kids to soo much more than in the past. The kids that aren't loyal to LSU from birth are going to be smitten with the Bama brand. It's a natural occurence in recruiting. The Meyer years at UF were similar aside from the fact that he didn't really hit LA. Most teenage kids these days have no loyalties to certain schools or teams. They are very fickle and bandwagon typed. Popular school(Bama) tends to get more interest than usual. We'll win 90% of the battles but make no mistake we will lose a couple every year. It's not as uncommon as people seem to think either. We lose at least 1 every year except for the PP7 class. We'll survive as we always do.
