Not going to disclose everything specifically, but Tolan has been dealing with some things personally, and it is not believed to him being “homesick”.

He needs to figure some things out, and he is weighing his options on how he should do that.

It is still possible he could remove his name at the end of this. Would not surprise me.

It will be interesting to see what he ultimately does.

Makes sense. If he does move on we really need to tamper a LB from somewhere because the portal is slim pickings right now and we're thin as hell.

If they don't address this in portal offenses are going to target it as the weakness every game. Penn and Weeks need to take a big jump in progression before they can be relied on.

I know the staff recognizes this as a weakness and haven't made moves yet because...where are you going to make moves in the portal? Like I said, LBs are weak in it. Nobody really stands out. It's kinda surprising. Maybe they can identify a small college guy that can convert like we did with Cox.

If there was ever a staff here that could be trusted that would be competent to handle situations like this it's this one. Genuinely seems to understand all aspects of the player.

Ultimately, if a football career is something he is interested in, I can't imagine there are many better opportunities out there for him than what presents itself here.

House will be here another couple seasons for sure, and he likely would be on the field the majority of the time.

If pickings are to thin now they could wait until after the spring to pick up someone once people start jumping ship because of being buried on depth chart.

Until he is something else, he is still a Tiger and we should be rooting for him to get the support and time he needs to work out whatever is going on.

Walk a mile in a man's shoes before we criticize (me included).

Not since Saban have I felt this comfortable with our coaching staff and their decision making.

Agreed. I’ve even wondered if Derrick Davis could add 15-20 lbs and move to LB. He is obviously extremely athletic and doesn’t seem to mind contact at all.

The problem is we need an experienced LB. LB to rotate with Penn. LB is one of the most complexed positions to learn on the defense. I hope they keep Perkins on the outside. Looking at his PFF grades he was way less effective on the inside. We need an experienced thumper on the inside. And let Perk40 do what he does.

I bumped into his family outside the dome for the SECCG. They all seemed like great people and loved LSU.

I'm sure there is more to the story. Hope it all works out for the kid.

We are thin, but this is false. Those guys are playing well, particularly Penn. They don't have the upside that Tolan has, but they are solid players.

They're not playing solid especially at the end of the season. They're both way too inconsistent to be relied on to be your starters. Why do you think House keeps rotating LBs? He's trying to find one for consistency. Neither are consistent and as of now shouldn't be considered reliable for next season. If they're starting very likely that's going to be your weakness on defense and offenses are going to exploit it. Norvell will have fun with his 2 very talented TEs in week 1.

Penn and Weeks should be backups not starters.

Isn’t Penn the leading tackler on the team?
