As slow as this thing is moving, I'm starting to think that chances are slim

We just had one of the strongest sustained winds we've had here.

If there are no widespread power outages, yes.

Since you didn't respond to the bet offer yesterday, I wrote you off.

his is true, however, the eastern eye-wall usually packs the strongest punch. So, if the eyewall moves further west from Baton Rouge, it can only be better for BTR.
By the time the storm gets anywhere near Lafayette there won't be any 'eyewall' per se. The heaviest convection is far removed from the center this point and its only going to get more spread out as the storm unwinds, so to speak. I can see BR still getting a lot of strong wind for an extended period of time but the longer it takes to get there the lower the wind speeds will be.

I wonder when the worst of it will end (and start) for BR.

I am guessing 11am today until 6 am tomorrow. Gustavo seemed to be much faster

Kim, maybe I need to come have FBD with you. 30 minutes or so too soon to start?

Figures though. My Dad is the one with the whole house generator. Those dozens of huge water oaks Gustav took down in the 'hood are helping you now.

It's not really a question of "if."

Like I said before the storm, the biggest problem to the game in Saturday is that they won't be as to START cleanup/repairs till midday Thursday.

red means a lot of outages in that area. blue and yellow are less. redlines mean power is out to those lines

Red triangles and lines means large outages. Blue and yellow mean smaller outages. Green lines means power is on.

FWIW, I just drove through parts of LSU back to my apartment and there really wasn't anything outside of leaves on the ground. Now i realize the worst hasn't gotten to us yet, but as of right now i didn't see anything major
