Where do y'all dispose of old TV's?

Trying to keep it legal. Best Buy charges to recycle, can't make it to the next Hazmat day in the area

Put it out the night before trash day and it will be gone by morning.

I'm on a 14 house cul-de-sac street. No subdivision or main street

Put I in the new TV’s box, set it on the porch.
I put used kitty litter in a Amazon box, seal it up, leave it on the porch!

Goodwill
One of the funniest stand up routines ever is by a dude named Dusty Slay. He talks about taking his TV to Goodwill and they didn't take it. Apparently Goodwill doesn't take TV's. He said but they took it, later that night, when they were closed

Side note: Watch his episode on The Standups on Netflix. You won't regret it. Especially if you grew up in the country.

A couple years ago I was chatting with an intake guys at one of the thrift store donation centers. They had a huge construction dumpster right next to the loading dock and said something like 2/3 of what they get has to be disposed of rather than sold. He said because they're non-profit they get a flat rate on the dumpsters or at some locations the recycle center will donate the dumpsters as a tax dediction... exact same place that wanted to charge me as an individual $50 to "recycle" an old CRT TV.
So yeah, take it to Goodwill or whatever after hours particularly when they've got the dumpster setup next to the donation dock. If you put it directly into their dumpster you're misappropriating their dumpster. Leave it on the loading dock "because it was the only time I could get by to donate and thought someone could use it".
We take in plenty of very good condition stuff they sell quickly for a nice markup (good for them) that I don't feel the least bit bad about their flat rate dumpster once/twice every few years.

Our solid waste service includes all appliances. Are you sure yours doesn't?

That’s sort of how they recently got an old all-in-one PC. Best Buy charges a fee to recycle anything with a screen. Dell and Goodwill have a recycling partnership, but it wasn’t clear if my Goodwill location participated. I pulled up, and the guys weren’t outside, so I quickly put the PC in the cart by the door and hauled arse.

Yep - our county has an electronics disposal event to take old pc’s, tv’s, etc. but only does it once a quarter

Find an apartment complex with a dumpster.

There’s a dumpster behind every store or restaurant. Find one that isn’t behind a locked gate and toss it in. Nobody will bother you about it. I do it all the time.

Seems like there would be an old electrician that would dissemble old tvs and save/sell the parts. I guess there are not many parts in current tvs very valuable.

I saw a 32" smart TV at Walmart for $89 recently. None of the parts are very valuable anymore evidently.

If it still works just leave it in a buggy in the walmarks parking lot with a sign saying "works - free to good home". Somebody will take it.

They do a Hazmat day a couple of times a year. The drop off line is ridiculous. We won't be in town for the next one. Guess Goodwill or i'll be looking for a dumpster. TV does not work.
