Water spigots that feed my washer. I need to remove the hose off the cold (I think) one. I had a dryer with a steam cycle and am replacing it with one without that feature. It currently has a hose going to a Y splitter and that feeds both units. I need to take that off and just run a straight hose from the source to the washer only.

Issue is the water hose end will NOT screw off the spigot. Tried by hand, then with slip joint pliers, then with channel locks. I tried so hard the end of the channel locks bruised my palm. This morning I tried vice grips with similar failure.

Part of the problem is the two spigots are inset into the wall and I’m getting to the collar at an angle. I’m scared to put more pressure than I have and bust the spigot off it’s pipe and flood my house.

TL/DR how do I get a hose end off a water spout that it’s seized to? Penetrating oil? Heat?

If you're afraid of flooding the house, turn the water off.

Is it a copper pipe coming out of the wall with a quarter turn valve on the end?

If so those little ferrels* get stuck in there and are a bitch to get off.

This is correct. And if you can’t do that then you shouldn’t be messing with the other issue anyway.

Spray fitting with penetrating oil like Kroil, etc. and wait a while. hold backup on the y fitting with another pair of pliers. Turn the water off in case things go to shite.

Thanks to all for the replies. I should go turn off the main in the front yard. If that takes a special tool I should have one at my MIL’s house. My FIL (may he RIP) worked for Nolan, a big plumbing supply company and is I’m sure laughing uproariously at my incompetence.

I plan to try to hair dryer heating suggestion and I have a can of PB Blaster or similar in the truck toolbox. It just won’t be easy to get at the threads as the spigots are inset into the wall in a little cubby.

Stuff works but it takes its time. I sprayed some on my wife and it took a month before it finally kicked in.

Wasn't there a rumor about this happening to Richard Gere’s arse and him having to go to an ER for removal?

You know there is typically a shut off valve in your house right? Typically in the garage or close to your hot water heater.

My house water shutoff valve is outside, right where the water line enters the house. OP check there as well.

Op you could also cap the other hose you don’t need. Not an ideal solution and I know the lazier way but that would solve your problem.
