Lattice around back porch deck

I have a wooden back porch deck that I would like to close in with lattice work to keep pets on the deck at times.
I'm undecided between treated wooden lattice and plastic/vinyl.
The wood is 1/2" thick and treated, the platic/vinyl is 1/8" thick. My concern with vinyl is will it hold up in the heat and not warp. I know the wood might need replacing ovet time.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I did treated wood and it lasted maybe 3-4 years between weather and hitting it with the weedeater.
Put up vinyl and don't look back. Add additional support to keep it from bowing.

The vinyl will last, just pressure wash it every so often

First two responses were exactly the opposite of what I was going to say.

I prefer real wooden lattice, but it will not last forever. But I'd rather change it as needed, I have a hatred for the vinyl or painted look, weathered wood (even the treated stuff) looks better.

If it’s not on the ground the wood will last fine and will look much better than vinyl.

Wooden lattice is an absolute pain in the arse to cut and paint. Go plastic.

What do your neighbors have on their trailers? Try to match them.

I replaced lattice with these diy boards. Just stripped two different sizes with table saw. Not a fan of lattice or vinyl.
Pressure treated and a clear coat every two years and they will last forever.

I used white vinyl under my deck and it really looked better than I thought it would. It’s sturdy and doesn’t warp.

Do you live in a trailer?

Your concern is valid, it will warp, probably within 3 years or less, especially at that thickness…
The wood is going to be much higher quality but will need to be stained or painted or maintained every 3 to 5 years should nice newer wood is soft and grown quickly

Vinyl. Mainly because I could get it in white. Painting wooden lattice is for the birds. You can’t tell the difference IMO.

Now this is a proper Father’s Day thread.

Well, what the hell is she doing back there? Invite her inside already.

My carport is wrapped in treated lattice that was original to the house built in 2001. It got dingy, I pressure washed it and sprayed a coat of semi-transparent deck stain on it. Looks fantastic. There's a few broken pieces but it has held up for 20 years. I suspect the lattice of 2001 was of better quality than the 2022 stuff though.

I have had wood lattice under my deck that has been up 24 years. Never touched. Bottom is in the dirt never have had an issue.

White vinyl lattice will not warp. It will last forever. Every year or two hit it with chlorox and jomax to return it to like new condition.
Cut it with a jigsaw and you good to go.
