Just bought a few acres, need recommendations on vehicle to help work it.

We just purchased a home on about 4 acres.
As I’m cleaning up the property I’ve quickly come to the conclusion that I may need some sort of RTV type of vehicle with a trailer.
90% of the property is wooded and elevation varies.
Looking for something to help clean up fallen branches and transport things.
Don’t want to break the bank.
Any recommendations are greatly appreciated

Gonna need to be a little more specific on this as it means different to different people.
A side by side with a dump bed would be my recommendation but a great machine would be a Kawasaki Mule but it starts in the $15k neighborhood.

But the equivalent of a “camp truck” or something similiar.
An old Tacoma, 4 runner….
Hell every news report from Middle East has a 1980s Tacoma with a huge machine gun mounted on it…. I’m sure they out then they hell

A little more expensive but it's not just a glorified golf cart.

I'm 4 years into my 4 acres and I'm currently running an LS 2030H 27HP compact tractor and an Polaris Ranger 800: Use them both weekly and couldn't do the work and maintenance without them.
I went gently used on the tractor and scored it for $7500 with 300 hrs: having that loader has been the best investment I've ever made. HST is great so my wife can use it too. Forks stay on it most the time to move stuff and pick up limbs. Can do the driveway and dirt work I need with this little tractor as well.
Polaris is a rolling tool box with a dump bed. I bought it for $4k with 900hrs and it's been a work horse for me. The dump bed is constantly utlized for us and I keep the chainsaw and tools in it.
My strategy was to buy solid used equipment then upgrade. But both these machines turned out to be rock solid and I haven't found a reason to spend the crazy money they're currently asking for new machines. And I use both weekly and depend on them! Be picky and carefull buying simliar machines used and they'll pay dividends to you for years

That’s about what I was thinking.
Not anything more than that.

Used tractor with loader
Used mule 4010
Tractor for sure, you'd be amazed at the work you can do. Used implements can be found for a good deal if you're patient.
Mule 4010 Trans will fit a tremendous amount of tools/wood/crap in the bed and last forever.
I'd buy used. No sense in spending new money to beat the hell out of it clearing your property. Once your done, sell and upgrade if you want.

The property is a mess. It’s going to take me a while to clean it up. I’ve been using a wheelbarrow up until now and I’m starting to feel very old.
We will have a nice bonfire once I’ve got all the fallen branches collected.
But as someone who has lived in regular neighborhoods most of my life, it’s pretty awesome to have a little chunk of land.
We will be getting some chickens pretty soon and taking about .5 acres to plant some vegetables.
Pretty excited. Property has a deep well on it and it’s so cool to go crank that pump and have cool water come out.

If you really want to keep costs down, a utility cart that attaches to a lawn traction or ZTR is handy.
I also have a battery operated utility cart that can get around.
These are good for somewhat smaller end duties, but I'm not sure what you really envision needing for 4 acres of woods.

That may do the trick.
I don’t need much.
Honestly just help moving stuff around. It’s not a ton of land but it’s more work than I thought it’d be.
My 44 year old arse told my wife that all I’ll need is a wheelbarrow.
My body is telling me differently

We bought a small chunk of land and I've been working out there a ton.
Maxhinery/equipment costs, but it makes you 10x more efficient. It's 100x easier on your body. For me, the more progress I see, the more I want to work. If I was clearing acreage with just a wheel barrow, I would lose momentum and interest in no time.
I would and have bought as much equipment as I can to make the work easier.

Are you trying to leave this a natural as possible? Or more like a park?
If natural, I wouldn't do anything with the fallen branches, unless they are in your pathways.

Look for a cheap bill of sale only truck or suv.
Plenty around.

I use this dump trailer from Home Depot. It's tough and awesome. I pull it behind my riding mower. We absolutely abuse it and it never misses a beat.

I have been working on my acreage since 2020 which has been absolutely awesome. I used a bushhog for the big projects and clearing but this is my daily driver which is a godsend.

Please let us know how much work the garden was and how you plan on downsizing next year.

After years of holding out, I bought a Kawasaki Mule Pro MX this summer. I’ve used it more than I ever thought I would. I think it was about $15k out the door.

I’d get a compact tractor with a front end loader and a little utility trailer you can pull with it. Later on you can add a box blade, tiller, bush hog, etc.
I think you’d get the most bang for your buck going this route.
