Is anybody actually mixing a gallon or two of the weed formula per 1000 sq ft? I have a two gallon sprayer and a 17,000 sq ft yard. Should I be mixing up a batch 17 times to do my yard?

You definitely can mix it stronger and apply less, but I'm not sure how to tell you how to calibrate that hand spraying.
Most labels have a per acre rate. In your situation, you have about .4 acres. Use 40% of the acre rate and broadcast across your entire yard evenly.
Example. Trimec Southern is 20 oz/ Acre. If you could broadcast 8-10 oz across your .4 acres evenly, the amount of water can vary.
Most boom sprayers use 15-20 gallons of water per acre, but some people use 10, some people use 40. More water is best, but not time efficient.

I sprayed a couple of batches the other day. I definitely felt like I should mix it stronger. Hand spraying a gallon over 1000 sq ft really seemed like too much. I may try that next time.

Is it too late to put down some pre emergent? I’ve been caught up in the Mardi Gras stuff the past couple weekends and want to make sure I’m not late.

Barricade vs. Dimension
Is one better than the other? What are the pros and cons?
I haven't put down any pre-emerge yet. But, after reading all of these threads about lawns needing to be established, I may wait another year. I still have some spots in my yard that haven't fully filled in. I’ll try to keep up with post-emerge and fertilizing this year.
ETA: You know what, reading back earlier in the thread it looks like most of my questions are answered. Disregard..

Pros for Barricade.. cheaper than dimension and works great if watered in.
Pros for Dimension.. has some post emergent activity on crab grass so if you're running late, Dimension is the option.
I mostly use Barricade.

I have this thing for about the same size yard. The tub is 32 ounces I believe, and it sprays at 2 gallons per minute. You can adjust the ounces per gallon you want to spray also.

Interesting.
Would something like this be compatible with granulars like Prodiamine 65 or Celsius? My yard is pretty big too and it may be easier to mark 5000 sq ft sections and just spray evenly vs. an air pressure sprayer.

Finally got mine down yesterday evening... hopefully the rain today isn’t to much to mess it up

What's the best post emergent to use for Poa? I've got Fertilome to knock out broadleaf weeds but I don't think that will really tackle the Poa I also have in my yard.

Probably atrazine + surfactant. Might require a couple sprays. You can add the weed-free-zone and tackle other weeds at the same time.

The sun will burn it off in the next few months.

Summer heat will kill all annual winter weeds, but there is merit to killing many of these winter annuals with herbicide before they go to seed, particularly for those not using pre-emergent herbicides. Unfortunately, when many people really notice Poa in the lawn it has developed seed heads.

Is there anything that's safe for Monkey Grass weeds or am I better off just hand picking that shite? drives me crazy

You know what kind of weeds? I have Bermudagrass that creeps into monkey grass (mondo) grass) and I’m able to kill it with sethoxydim without harming the monkey grass. According to the literature Image herbicide containing the active ingredient Imazaquin can kill some broadleaf weeds and sedges in monkey grass. Going forward your best bet is to apply some pre-emergent herbicide in the monkey grass beds in the early fall.

Theres really nothing. You can try Atrazine but I wouldnt count on great results, but sometimes it works okay. I am in SC and the poa I treat is resistant to Atrazine and Simazine post emerge.

Is it worth pulling out by hand or do the roots come back too?
