Long story short I am between a frigidaire and LG. There is a $200 price difference. Is frigidaire reliable?

ETA: For a refrigerator

Frigidaire is an okay brand and more reliable than LG.
There are better brands out there for a couple hundred more than Frigidaire, if your budget allows it.
Do yourself a favor and don’t buy an LG or Samsung fridge.

Frigidaire it is then. It’s a weird situation where I’m only going to be using the fridge for a year so I’m trying to go inexpensive.

I had to replace my side by side after Katrina due to power surges when Entergy was getting things back on line burning up the electronics in the old one.

I got a Frigidaire side by side in 06 and it's still working fine. I did have to replace the ice maker once, but that's about it.

I'd not hesitate to purchase another one if this one goes bad.

There's Frigidaire Gallery and Frigidaire Professional. The Professional line is much better.

Frigidaire is good for refrigerators. Do not buy a Frigidaire smart phone. Reverse this for Samsung.

Love ours. The one we have checks all boxes. I especially love that it has two independent ice makers.

Had a Frigidaire refrigerator prior to 2016 flood. Was a great refrigerator. Ended up getting a great deal on a whirlpool when we bought new appliances - and that one is great too. Good experiences with both.

We bought our house and it was filled with Frigidaire appliances. Fridge, oven, microwave, stove.

My thought was I'll wait to replace them when they break and spend money elsewhere. Been quite a few years and they haven't just not broken, but I haven't had to fix/repair a single item other than replacing a water filter.

That's anecdotal, but I've been impressed with the durability. We beat our appliances to shite too. A bunch of kids slamming doors and I am constantly cooking.

LG customer service is so bad that the techs laugh with you on the phone.

LG will work just fine for a year. Once you get to year 4/5'ish the compressor will definitely go out.

I have got a Frigidaire professional and it has been a damn solid refrigerator for the past 16 years.

Consumer Reports surveys readers on repair history of their appliances. I think Frigidaire refrigerators have done well in them, but it's been a while.

I don't have a subscription so can't see the whole article, but they mention in the teaser that certain Samsung and LG models are trouble. Ice-makers and dispensers are the main problem for all brands.

Go the library or find a friend with a subscription, and you can read the whole report.

We have a 13 yr old Kenmore that the compressor just failed on and are going to need to get a new one. The repairman said he would get a kitchenaid right now, but to plug it into a surge protector because the electronics have been fried by power surges. He did say Samsung was good, but the in door ice makers fail. He said stay away from LG and Kenmore (made by LG), they are the worst ones on the market now.

Anyone have any other suggestions? I don’t have a CR subscription so can’t see the article posted.
