Killing the decorative and shade trees in the area. Anyone know of an herbicide that is really good at killing this sort of ground cover.

Yes, but need to know the specific vines first. Some take different herbicides.

typically...

remove as much of the above ground vine as you can (pull them out and cut off). Treat the remaining growth at the ground by hand with undiluted herbicide

monitor and retreat any new shoots or growth

Pull down everything you can. Cut and let the rest hang, you'll be able to pull it down after it sits dead for a bit. Pull up what you can from the ground, hack what you can't. If you want grass there, start mowing and let the grass spread or sod. Keep mowing it and the stuff won't make it back.

I've pulled and mowed. I've also cut and removed what I can reach after allowing the upward growth on the side of the house to die. It's just stubborn AF. I don't know what kind of vines they are. I'm not a botanist. LoL.
I'm almost at the end of my rope with this shite though. I'm to the point where I'm thinking of spraying the shite with diesel or bleach.

I mixed .4 oz per gallon of Triclopyr, 1 oz per gallon of 24d, and 2 oz per gallon of 50% Glyphosphate. 3oz of dawn in a 15 gallon tank.

Warning: It will kill your bushes and trees.

Near as I can tell it has killed everything I've sprayed it on.

Trichlopyr, if you spray it you need to keep it off the desirable trees. Alternatively, If the amount vines and bushes is not “massive” you can cut the vines and thorns at the base and immediately paint the fresh wound/stump with trichlopyr. It translocates into the roots killing the plant.

Triclopyr can also kill via root uptake. Painting it on wound/stumps is fine, but do not spray it around trees that you don't want to kill.

I thought the general rule is to not pull down vines out of trees. Could possibly do more harm to the tree.

It's fun and satisfying to pull vines out of trees and to see them all laying on the ground afterwards.

What has worked for me is getting some of those water tubes that florists use to put a single flower in. Mix up some glyphosate and fill the tubes. Cut the vine off about 1/2" above the ground then stick one of the tubes over the cut vine stem so that the stem is submerged in the glyphosate. Leave it on there for a month to be certain you kill it.

If you have those sticker vines that have the big "potato" underground, it is best to dig them up. Just be careful to get the whole potato out. If you leave a small piece of that potato, it will still grow.
