Are there any options besides an end table on top?

There are some available for ceiling mount.

Try finding a nearby closet. Those low frequency waves can travel through the doors and walls a little and you can still get a decent effect without having to look at it.

I’ve also been pondering the options. Considering either putting around a corner or doing something in the ceiling.

I debated doing a wicker basket or similar with a plant on top of it. Sound should go through the basket material.
Mine is under a "Crate" table I made.

Subwoofer sound is not directional. That’s why you can hide it if you prefer.

I also made a slatted "crate table" to fit over my 12" Sub. You'd never know there was a subwoofer there just by looking at it.

I have a thin one I put behind the couch.

Mine is behind my big arm chair. It's awesome because my seat rumbles from explosions in movies

If you have no place to hide it, at least get a black cloth and drape it over.
Otherwise, go to a secondhand market and find a small wooden chest and put it inside and it looks like furniture

I have a slim sub that slides under the couch. Gives a 4D experience for the action movies.

My wife insisted that we not have a big giant box in the living room.
So I have 5 foot tall towers with built in subs powered by 1500 watt amps. I can knock pictures off the walls

IF you have space above or below the room (attic, basement or at least crawl space), AND are not afraid of some DIY, you can build a badass infinite baffle sub that vents into the room.
