How many times do you reset the water/air filter fridge light?

I'm going on 3 years and there will be hell to pay when my wife catches on that I'm not swapping the filters. She thinks I'm just really on top of it.

I swear that light comes on every month.

I hit that mf every chance I get

A few years ago my wife saw it and felt like the water was instant trash since the light was on.

I change mine every 6 months after I didn’t and ended up with a flooded kitchen floor one time.

Yours too???

Damn filters for my fridge run in the $40+ range per filter and seem to have that light go off at least 2 times a year.

Swapped mine with a bypass that is shaped like a filter. Just a plastic tube that doesn't need to be changed.

Those things are like $60 for 6 months. More expensive than Netflix. No thank you.

I changed one in an older fridge that I bet the owner hadn't changed it in years.
It was quite difficult to remove.

Yeah but city/ water utility water is perfectly fine to drink.

Those filter settings are very rarely when it actually needs changing, they are usually just timed- every 6 months or whatever. So if you use a lot of water it needs it more often and not much then less often most likely.

My issue is slow water. I usually have to change before the light because it takes too long to fill a glass.

If wait to long to change to change the water filter on mine (Kenmore/Whirlpool) after the change filter light comes on (say several months) the ice maker will stop making ice even though it still dispenses water. I had a on-line service tech tell me that was the likely cause of the ice maker not producing ice and sure enough it was.

I buy an off brand for my fridge. 3 pack for $20. Usually lasts about a year and a half.
