How important is a garage to homebuyers?

This is a follow-up to a previous post of mine regarding the practicality (or not) of "cutting an existing double garage in half" in order to create more space in the back yard. It appears this move wouldn't be practical. Thus, since we want more space for a pool, we're considering simply demolishing the garage altogether. In weighing the pros and cons of doing so, I'm wondering what the absence of a garage would do to re-sale value of the house (I'm not asking about the impact of a pool - I've read those threads). Does anyone have an opinion regarding whether the absence of a garage would severely hurt re-sale value? The house still would have a covered driveway along the side of the house and a circular drive in front.

Thank you.

No garage would definitely be a deal breaker for me.

Garage/Covered parking is very important unless it’s a much older house where that style was uncommon.

Open garage area like what was suggested in the other thread would not negatively impact resale value.

Personally I wouldn't even consider a home without one, but everyone's tastes differ

Very.

No garage is a deal breaker for me.
I get annoyed with online listings that do not show the garage and/or utility areas.

To non-soy men? Very important. Maybe all you need is a she-shed but the rest of us have tools and vehicles.

Wouldn't own a house with a pool and no garage, unless it had a full basement. Because the pool would get filled... if it's the only space for a garage. Where'd you put the pool supplies, dog food, and emergency generator*?

So, yeah. . . it'd impact the sale price in a big way!

eta" * lawn mower, blower, tools, old paint, car products, antifreeze, and gas for everything.

Home being built right now...double car carport with extended patio. Paying more for a single car garage next to that for both storage and tools (mower). Must have or else would need to eventually purchase ugly, contrasting shed.

You put those in a shed, not a garage.

I didn’t want a garage when we built. I wanted a carport that would open to my outdoor space for overflow for get togethers. But I also built a 36x24 shop to keep all tool and mowers and such.

We lived in apartments and parked in the open. When we started looking for a house, we had a list of musts. First on it was garage/covered parking. Wouldn't even consider any home without.
