We’re about to do a bathroom remodel and my wife wants no glass. Just a pony wall about shoulder height to contain splashes.
The contractors insist that the new glass is better and resists hard water stains.
Anyone know if there is any truth to that?

Mine is almost 10 years old and is holding up fine...the fact that we squeegee it after use no doubt helps.
If you are unable to keep up with that task then do no glass.

You should probably mention the size of your bathroom and shower enclosure. Any Marriott I've ever stayed in that tries this BS ends up with half of the towels on the floor for overspray and splashes.

when we built out house 6 years ago we had the shower glass coated with something from the glass company. I don't squeegee it, I wipe it with my towel after I'm finished and it looks perfect. In fact I dry the shower walls and fixtures also, then squeegee the floor right quick. Takes less than 2 minutes. We do go through more towels though lol.

#0000 steel wool. If it’s standard clear glass, I guarantee it will come out looking new. Has to be the four 0000 grade. Your welcome.

The proposed shower enclosure would likely be about 5x5 feet with the shower head in a corner against an outside wall - 5 feet away from the proposed pony wall separating the shower from the bathroom floor. We’ll also get one of those handheld shower heads to pair with the fixed one for a proper undercarriage cleansing and whatever else my wife does it with it.

Thanks, seems like CLR saturation and #0000 SW is what I need.
I did this process initially and got good results but couldn't get it completely removed. It's likely I stopped too soon and needed to keep at it.

Squeegee door after use.
I use squeegee after every use and one of these towels...works great for me.

I'll have to ask the Mrs. what mixture she used but we bought a house and the master shower had some hard water stains on it and she worked on it for quite a while and got it almost crystal clear.
The way to keep them away though is keep a squeegee wiper in the and wipe the glass after every shower. Kind of annoying but it really only takes like 15 seconds so it's not so bad.
