Generator fried Fridge?

Anyone ever experience a portable generator frying the electronics in a fridge? I have a Generac 6500. It's been running since 11:00 on 8/29 without any issues. Came home from work today, opened freezer, and noticed ice was thawing. I thought maybe I didn't close door all the way previously, so I put a thermometer in there. The lowest it got to was 42. The only thing I can think of is the "dirty" power from my generator fried the electronics. I've heard that this is why inverter generators are better than regular ones, but never experienced it firsthand.
The only other alternative is my fridge just coincidentally broke, but I literally just had new compressor installed 2 months ago.

Anything is possible I guess.
Have to diagnose why the fridge isn't cooling now to confirm.
If all the 6500 watt generator was running was the refrigerator there should have been no issue with adequate power. If there were other loads and it was nearing capacity or on a long cord it could have been supplying brown power or low voltage. Some electronics tolerate this better than others.
With that said there are probably 100,000 people running their refrigerators with generators right now in LA.

At the time, I was running the fridge, deep freezer, and 2 box fans. Nothing more.

Should be AOK.
It's not out of the realm of possibility there is a defect in the genset or in the fridge.
Have to figure out the refrigerator problem for certain to be able to diagnose. Since you say you just got a new compressor installed in the fridge it's not a newer unit I would assume. Defrost failures are fairly common and could be exacerbated if any melting occurred in the freezer section before you got the genset hooked up.
Follow up and let us know what failed.

Is this what the kids are doing these days?
I miss chicken fried steak.

Standard generators have power fluctuations that can damage electronic equipment. It’s at least some protection to use a surge protector between the generator and appliances.

This is more than likely the issue. VERY common when on generator power.

I would guess the odds of having a freon leak are much higher than the generator causing a problem. Especially if the lcd displays are working and compressor is still cycling on and off trying to cool the refrigerator.

Compressor is not coming on.
I left it unplugged from generator for 12 hrs today just in case one of the fans froze up or something and needed to thaw out. Stuck thermometer in it when I plugged fridge back in at 6 pm...current temp is 64, the set temp is 33.
I called LG and requested service appointment blaming it on faulty compressor. First available was July 14.
Insurance adjuster coming out in few days for home damage. I wonder if they'll cover fridge for power surge during hurricane?

i have been using my generator intermittently and thought my frigidaire fridge/freezer was "fried" it was giving me high temp warnings and Power failure warnings. I also think that it was warming obviously from down power time and not cooling off for long enough, but would not really know until power returns.
I called Gorman Bros and they said that the "dirty power" could be ruining compressor relays and/or capacitors.
Now that we have had power restored, my fridge is functioning normally with regards to temps, dispenser, ice maker, lights, etc. BUT the alarm will not stop beeping continuously. I cannot reset it with everything tried so far. I even unplugged it for 25 minutes and it beeped the whole time unplugged. Maybe fried the control panel somehow? but everything else seems ok...

My Whirlpool SxS in the house wouldn’t come on (lights only) while on my Craftsman 6250/5500 so I connected it to my Honda EU2000 and it worked perfectly. Dirty power I’m guessing it didn’t like.

Yes, one of my brothers reported his fairly new Samsung was fried. Technician he spoke to said the generators are not friendly to the mother boards in the Fridge. Best to use an inverter generator.

A while back, we had a brown out and the compressor on our LG fridge wouldn't come on. We thought it might be fried and LG support was no help.
Finally figured out that the thing went into 'defrost mode' on its own. Used this procedure, which was not in the manual, to get it going again:
1. Open any fridge door.
2. Press and hold REFRIGERATOR and ICE PLUS buttons for 5 seconds.
3. Release both buttons at the beep.
